Waypoints and missions
THis is something that has been irking me for a little while now.
Everytime i take a mission there is a big chance that i'm somehow going to lose the waypoint that lead to the mission location. Usually it's when my autopilot move the waypoint in order to jump.
Is there a way to display the waypoint of the current mission, again?
Second issue, when you are on the other side of the system, i found it impossible to zoom on a specific planet/station on the navigation map, is there something i am missing?
3rd thing, how do you warp directly to a station docking area? (i've seen this mentioned before)

When you take a contract a waypoint is auto set. Just hit F2 to jump to it.
If you left click somewhere and change the set navpoint you can still see the mission waypoint as a small bluish box.
If you die or lose the contract or leave the sector you lose the waypoint completely.
Right mouse click will zoom on areas in range of navmap.
A right mouse click on a station icon when zoomed in on the sector that the station is in, will lock a navpoint on it for fast docking.
Right click works for gates and other stations too.
Right click then set pitch to 0 deg, heading to 0 or 180 for gates. heading 0, 90, 180, 270 for constructor stations, 180 for carriers.

Remember: space is 3-dimensional. If you re-set the waypoint, go into the Nav map (F1) and look for the blue box. Then left-click on it. Then go to Rear View and make sure you've set the proper altitude within 3D space. (This is also important when navigating from one sector to another ... sometimes stations and other objects are located in a sector that's either above or below yours.) Think like Kirk. Not like Khan.

What are sectors?
Also i noticed a lot of times my jumpdrive is massively overshooting it's target. Does each jumpdrive "upgrade" has a bigger and bigger minimum jump distance?

And, yes, different classes of jumpdrive let you jump further. For example, a C5 drive will let you jump a maximum of 5 sectors at a time. (A sector is what's shown in the screenshots in the topic linked above.)

Each jumpdrive does jump a larger distance, for example the Mantis Jump Drive jumps 10 sectors at a time. However, a jump drive firstly, does not jump you to the exact coordinate, it gives you a few thousand meters of space so you don't hit whatever you are jumping to, secondly, a jumpdrive never overshoots unless press ALT + F2, which jumps its maximum distance regardless of your set destination.
Sectors are the smallest cubic measure your map will show you, so when you zoom in all the way, that is a sector. I don't know the exact dimensions of a sector, though.
Also remember that autopilot will not trigger a jump to a destination unless it is in another sector. Anything within the same sector as you you will need to manually jump to.
And always remember what Marvin said, space is 3D, so if you right click on a map and it doesn't zoom to what you though would be there, switch to rear view and click the up/down buttons until you find it, then switch back to top view.

A jump drive should dump you short of an objective so that you can approach it at a slower pace if you have jumped using just the f2 option. From post: 141491, Topic: tid=9613, author=KyrahAbattoir wrote:What are sectors?

Many sectors are seen in the Step 5 screenshot. Some of the other steps show how you can zoom in on one particular sector.
