There may have already been a thread for this, but I can't find one.. so I thought I'd start one for EL and possible future Evochron titles.
* Planet based Bombing missions, blowing specific land based targets (possible AA fire), money deducted for collateral damage.
* Evacuation missions, both space and land based, fly in, and pick up survivors from incapacitated/downed vessels. Evac could employ stealth/cloaking to get in and out, whilst enemy ships are around.
* Salvage missions, similar to mining, but finding/searching out desolated hulks and having equipment to reap their electronics/metals etc
* Disease Containment, ships both in space and on land, are riddled with alien contaminents that could be harmful, spray or irradiate ship to seal off or kill contaminents and contain the Disease. With the possibility of destroying the ship once contained for extra monetary bonus.
* Blockade running/smuggling, with specific cargo, blow your way through a defense turret matrix and deliver the goods, and get out again - with enemy interceptors hot on your trail. Big bucks, but big risk.
* Planet based Canyon racing, similar to the box racing in space, only again more dangerous.
* Stranded Ship/Frieghter towing, similar to tractor beam usage for jettisoned cargo cans, but on a bigger slower scale, guiding large freighters in to a station, possibly navigating/clearing asteroids in between.
* Station repair/maintenance, some fetch and carry, bolt it on fix it job for Stations.. needing travel to other stations to get parts, and bring it back and work on a particular station location, with an engineering tool. Would do wonders for your reputation at a particular station.
* Planet based aid dispersal, settlements on planets require food/medicines/equipment drops, like a bombing mission only friendlier and more good natured.
If I think up some more I'll stick them here..

Mission/Contract Ideas?
-The race is not to the swift,
or the battle to the strong,
nor does food come to the wise,
or wealth to the brilliant
or favor to the learned;
but time and chance happen to them all...
...For death is the destiny of every man;
the living should take this to heart...

Great minds think alikeOriginally posted by Wasp89
Good ideas, very similar to the ones here:

Sorry I missed your post or I could have tweaked my suggestions, but if more people are having the same ideas, then its probably a good idea, thats worth thinking about.. for the future..

Mission/Contract Ideas?
I dislike a few, and like a few
Bombing missions are a bit off-focus as far as I'm concerned.
Evacuation missions sound good, and could be fun in multiplayer. It would basically be an escort mission though, so it could be a bit double. One of the better ideas, though.
Salvage, again, is a variation on an existing mission.
Disease Containment is off-focus, the Vonari do not employ, nor have the ability to apply infestation methods.
Blockade running/smuggling could be fun, especially in caves. It would be great to have the turrets from Star Wraith 3's initial mission again.
Planet based racing would require a totally new system to place boxes, and since the collision on planets can be slightly quirky at times as far as I remember, it might be a bit problematic.
Stranded Ship/Frieghter towing, it has been said before that the Mining Tractor Beam does not have the capability to tow ships, and can only be used to retrieve something less heavy or as heavy as a Excalibur missile pack.
Station repair/maintenance will run into problems due to the game not supporting multi-system contracts. If you leave a system, it will undo your contract.
Planet based aid dispersal, again, is a bit of a delivery mission but different.
For a multistage mission, I would combine Evacuation and "Disease contamination", only I'd say the carrier was disabled and heading for an impact with a planet or station.

tha_rami - The best way to predict the future is to invent it.
