Okay, so I feel like a complete jerk for suggesting contract ideas with Legends coming out in a number of days that is small enough to easily count the remaining hours, but I had an interesting idea for a contract option that could be fun. From the little I have picked up about how Renegades and Legends is coded, I don't think adding these contracts would be too difficult, but I could be wrong.
Emergencies happen, so what if a (rare) posted emergency could be broadcast as a special contract that could be accepted by heading to the nearest station? Or perhaps these could be done as a "good Samaritan" contract where you wouldn't get paid, but your reputation could get a very significant boost? My initial thought was something like this:
We can "mine" water, which to me evokes images of planes with reinforced hulls flying down to the surface of a body of water, and scooping up numerous gallons of it, then flying to a nearby forest fire and dumping their load in an attempt to put it out. So what if we could do the same? It might be as simple as a delivery contract, but on a planet instead. We get word of a fire (or when we are searching for a contract, we get a rare one that says that help is needed with putting out a fire at x,y,z) and are paid handsomely for flying to the surface of a planet, scooping up water and then jettisoning the cargo (water) over a city/forest.
That idea got me thinking. What if there were other kinds of emergency contracts? A crippled ship is drifting in space, caught in the gravity of a planet and about to burn up in the atmosphere, and we had to pull up alongside and "dock" with it or use our tractor beam to rescue crew and passengers (dropping them in the cargo bay) for an uncomfortable but short ride to the nearest station, or use the tractor beam to somehow "repair" the ship. Or perhaps (accidentally, embarrassingly) a fellow mercenary is out of fuel, and we have to go to their location and give them fuel. Or there is a medical emergency on a planet or on a station and we have to go from planet to space port (or vice-versa), transporting meds to help aid the recovery effort. Or perhaps a patient (with accompanying emergency staff) from a medical center on a space port need to be transported to a planetary city where they can get better treatment for their ailment.
Anyways, I'm greatly looking forward to Legends and to all of the new features and exploration options, so I don't want it to seem like I'm being ungrateful. I just thought that they were good ideas, and wanted to share them for future consideration. Sorry Vice!

Interesting suggestions and it is always good to think outside of the box and new thoughts are always welcomed.....You never know what may happen in the future. Legends has a lot of New and Cool ideals that were thoughts at one time and now they are a reality. New systems to explore, Stealth devices, new materials to mine, constructs that will amaze you at what you can create and make more items that will bring in better cash flow....etc. Legends is worth the wait

Good ideas Wasp89! I like the idea of SOS contracts! I am excited to see all of the new things already in the game, which seem to be a huge step! Thursday can't come soon enough!
Incidentally, I graduated from IU, there in Bloomington. My years living there were some of the best in my life! I love Anyatsang's Tibetan restaurant just off of Kirkwood!

I especially like the S.O.S. contracts, but the recipient should have to pay, just like he would have to pay for a tow truck in real life!

Awesome, it's always fun to run into people who have lived here. I've never been to Anyatsang's, but I am a big fan of foreign cultures in general, so I'll have to give it a try!Originally posted by Baelthazar
