Hello to everyone,

what a great game! Love it! Purchased after one hour of testing. Bothers me that i didn't find it erlier. I have looked so a long time for such a spacegame which couldn't played as MMOG only and allways ended up with freelancer.
Most amazing for me at this point ist the obviously huge galaxy, the dimension of planets and stations, the flight model, the possibilities.
Nice to see that progress is going on, i think i will purchase some more licenses for my LAN and my buddies :)

So, enough commendations, i think you guys are more interested in things that could be done better ;)
The biggest issue i ran into was the joystick config. I use a MOMO racing wheel in combination with an X52 on XP. The problem is that the vendor id of the momo has allways a lower value than the x52 and is taken as primary. So i setuped my X52 in the device2set.txt. That worked at least for the axes but i can't assign the buttons from x52. So the only workaround was to create a profile. I think a simple solution would be to take the controller as first which is set as primary device in the gamecontroller controllpanel. But it works now and i can use the MOMO peddals as 'rudder'.
Next thing is that there are dead zones even if they are set to 0. Btw. which sensitivity setting is the linear one?
Also amazing to see trackIR is supported (even 6DOF, wow) but there are some problems with hud that appears only if you look forward, i think i can live with but it feels a bit unnatural. What really should be fixed is that the window frames (navigation window etc.) disappear also if you don't look somewhat straight ahead. What i would like to see is the HUD moving with view like the windows or at least it shouln't disappear. Mouse steering is nearly impossible with trackIR enabled.
Last point atm: i can't get my 3d shutter glasses activated even with windowmode set to 0, any clue?

Kindly regards,

connan.

(i'm sorry for my bad english)

Hello and welcome,

Device slots are limited in the development language I use (you can review previous discussion on them in this forum). And some devices have certain quirks with device lists. Glad you got it to work the way you want though.

Deadzones can exist on a device itself, depending on the settings you apply in its configuration program(s). The X52 has these for throttle and other axis iirc. The game will use fully linear input control when the deadzone is set to 0 (sensitivity just sets the responsiveness), so any remaining deadzones will need to be adjusted in the device's control settings (Saitek's program in the case of the X52). The gunsight turns off when you're viewing angle exceeds the MDTS range, effectively beyond the accurate scope of of the gunsight. Some players have wanted reduced clutter when they turn their head beyond a certain range, so it's removed at various angles. The TIR deadzone can be adjusted if you'd prefer a wider central range (some discussion on this available here: http://www.starwraith.com/forum/viewtop ... 1#pid30217 ). Consoles are not meant to be open when you pan your view around with TrackIR, it's best to turn those off when not needed. But they can remain visible if you want to review information while panning your view around. However, their frame is part of the same helmet visor HUD as the gunsight and as such, disable when your viewing range exceeds the central limit.

Not sure on the 3D glasses, I'm not familiar with that product. The manufacturer might be able to offer support there.

Edit: after reviewing your first point further, I'm not sure much could be done from within the game to work around that momo taking over the primary slot, some devices do that (especially CH products). But I'm glad you found a workaround.

Thank you for reply! Most points cleared out now, deadzone one was my mistake, there is no deadzone :)
Looked further into the game and managed to get some money and nice weapons :D.
Now i have the problem that the space seems empty, from one moment to another. Some ships here and there but no stations, planets or asteroids around. Those items are shown correctly with the lowest zoom level on the map but all other stages are empty. Any clue to this?

btw.: anyone here who pressed F2 in front of an asteroid too? :D

More times than I'm comfortable admitting. Planets too, vaporizing myself in the atmosphere.

When things are empty, you may be way above or below where you think you are. Check your current coordinates against the coordinates of the object you're looking for (both sets).

As Mechanical says, 3D space can have objects above or below you, including full sectors away. Flip the map to rear view to see the objects from behind, then you can gauge how high or low the objects are relative to your position.

Ups, thank you! :)
That did the trick. I had entered the wrong SY value.
