Just what the deuce is a cloaked Planet??
(And how does one go about doing that, anyway?)
And while I'm at it, how does one set up amenities AROUND a planet, for that matter?
I mean, say I found a nice, empty planet.
The first thing I'd want would be a nice Space Station... then maybe one of those blue Hyper-Jump Gates.
How would I set those up?

THIS looks like a job for a "Super Moderator".

As far as I know there is only one cloaked Planet and that is in Andromeda. So how do you find it?
Well since it's cloaked (you have to search the forum to find the "story" of how it got cloaked) you can't see it on the Nav Map even it you are right next to it - BUT you can see it if you are facing it (big surpise!).
I read someplace - I forget where - a hint as to it's location - and it went something like this: When you are in the Andromeda system - I think I headed in a diagonal direction to the North-East - jumping 10 sectors at a time since I have a Mantis drive. At some point between 10 and 20 sectors I think - I found something - I can't recall if it was my Sci Officer saying there were Containers in such and such a direction or what - but I saw no Planet - maybe there was a Moon - I don't recall - but while looking for "whatever it was" I turned my ship and all of a sudded there was a Planet where there was NONE showing in the Nav Map - hence - the cloaked Planet. And at that point you can go down and explore it. (something about a wrecked spacestation on the surface too)
This is all part of the story of "what happened to the Andromedan Race?"
Regarding Exploring long distances.
There are no shortcuts - which is a bit unfortunate for those of us who because of our health can't sit for many hours (I mean many many) and Autopilot (or Jump) 10 sectors at a time all over the evoverse trying to find new Systems & Planets.
I have done it a little but it's so time consuming and sometimes because of my back and health it looses it's charm fast. I kinda wish you could create temporary Wormholes to go exploring - but many would not like that suggestion.
If you fo feel capable and so inclined then to alleviate the fuel problem there a a couple of choices:
(1) a Build Constructor to build Stations so you can refuel (make sure you got plenty of money)
(2) a Deploy Constructor to deplot a Refuelling Depot (still need some money)
(3) a Fuel Converter (less useful) to refuel if you run across a Nebula Cloud or if you "CAREFULLY" get close to a Star Corona you can refuel that way but you better Quick Save and be careful because if you get too close or let it suck you to close into the Gravaty well then you will die. The trick is to get close enough and turon the Tractor Beam and when you see it begin converting the Corona into fuel then head away fromt he Star and apply enough Power to gradually start moving you away from the Gravity well un you are refueled and then set a Nav Point beyond the Star's Gravity and Jump way to a safe point and continue you exploration.
But for Exploring to find New Systems and Planets you must have a Build or Deploy Constructor to be on the safe side and temporarily a larger Fuel Tank.
Be advised that refueling using the Deploy Refueler is a slow process - you can speed it up a bit by setting your Energy to +5.
Also I think it's mentioned someplace that beyond a maximum distance either the Build Constructor or the Deploy Constructor (maybe it's just the Build) will no longer work.
I hope all of this memoru recall is accurate - I think it is - but it's been a while since I did any exploration or went to Andromenda.
