Good day citizens of Evochron. This is ENN coming to you LIVE from Saphire with the new that matters!

Just as things seem to have quieted down a bit after the inter-clan wars lately, something else has grabbed the attention of Evochron Authorities.

Earlier this week, mining probes in the Saphire and Wolf asteroid fields detected a couple of unknown ships. The ships were of unknown design and origin, and were carrying no identity transponders. It appeared as though the ships were hiding in the asteroid field.

The probes were able to capture the ships on image and relay them back to Saphire mining factions, who notified the authorities.
We have been able to get our hands on these images. Although the quality is not great, you can clearly see the outlines of a ship of unfamiliar design.

Saphire asteroid field:
Image

Wolf asteroid field:
Image

In response to the images taken by the mining probes, Naval Intelligence sent a deep orbit security probe to the Saphire asteroid field to observe the area where the Saphire ship was sighted in an attempt to retrieve more data.

It sent back the following video stream:
<object width="853" height="480"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/SU8eKLFm6GE&hl ... ram><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/SU8eKLFm6GE&hl ... fs=1&rel=0" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="853" height="480"></embed></object>

Although the stream is fuzzy because of the large distance it was sent over, you can see the ship coming out from his hiding spot behind the asteroid and leaving the area at high seed. It seems to be headed for the dark side of Saphire. The ship has not been seen since.

Although only two single ships were sighted, it raises a lot of questions with the authorities. Questions like \'to which faction do they belong to\', \'where did the ship design originate from\', and most importantly: \'What are their intentions?\'...
Both Naval intelligence as well as Evochron Police claim not to have any info on the ships. A representative of the authorities did stress out that they do urge the citizens of Evochron to be extra vigilant when venturing out into deep space, and to report any sightings to the authorities immediately.

This was ENN with a special new bulletin, thanks for watching. We will keep you updated with any news regarding this subject.

Good day citizens of Evochron. This is ENN coming to you LIVE from Saphire with the new that matters!

As we promised you, today we bring you updates concerning the recent sightings of unfamiliar spacecraft in the Saphire and Wolf systems!

We have received word from a representative of Olympus Naval Intelligence that two more sightings have been made.
This time Olympus mining probes have detected a couple of unknown stations in the Wolf system.

Normally no stations are known to exist in the Wolf system, apart from the known refueling station in the center of the system.
Earlier today the mining probes detected the metal alloys of the stations hulls, and took the following images:

Station #1:
Image

Station #2:
Image

As you can see the two stations are situated in two very different locations; one close to the planet Wolf, the other deep inside the Wolf asteroid field, probably not too far from where one of the unknown ships were first sighted.

It is still unknown who built the stations and what their purpose is. The images have already started rumors that certain Rebel groups may have managed to collect the finances needed to complete such projects. If they have, it could also explain the existence of a new type of ship, which we showed you earlier.

True or not, the fact that whoever built these stations was obviously able to see these projects through to the end without being interfered by anyone, especially law enforcement, has raised many questions with the general population. People are starting to ask question in regards to why Naval forces have not been able to detect the strange ships and the construction of the stations sooner. Some citizens even start to wonder whether they are still as safe as their government is trying to make them believe...

We have yet to receive an official comment from a government official. But it would appear that the people of Evochron deserve at least an explanation, and are wondering what their government will do against these unknown invaders.

When we receive word from a representative, or have any other update on the matter, we will let you know.

This was ENN with a special new bulletin, thanks for watching. We will keep you updated with any news regarding this subject.

Evochron News Network Breaking News!

Good day citizens of Evochron. This is ENN coming to you LIVE from Saphire with the new that matters!

Over the last few days local authorities have received numerous reports from clan leaders from different areas of the EvoVerse about the destruction of some of their trade stations. The first reports do not mention any suspects, but some of the more recent reports mention that some pilots from the Legion of the Lance clan have sighted and pursued a pilot flying under the callsign \'Agent X\' as they reportedly caught this pilot in the act. It is also mentioned more than once that pilots using a callsign similar to \'Vonari-...\' are suspected of committing these aggressive acts.
Members from the Freedom Fighters clan also claim to have some of their stations destroyed by pilots with callsign \'vonari-#\'.

Both clans have listed said pilots as \'KOS\', which means \'Kill On Sight\'.

ENN has made some inquiries with the Authorities, but they were not able to provide us with any specific information about these events, or the suspected pilots. They seem to be completely in the dark.
The official response was that an investigation to the reported destruction of the clan trade station is underway and that they were unable to comment on the matter any further, awaiting the outcome of the investigation.

Even though it has been a couple of weeks since the last reports of the \'ghost\' ships and stations, as some people have started to call them, there are those who believe that the infamous [X] Rebel Faction are behind the recent events. Upon inquiring, Naval intelligence responded that there is no proof that any particular faction might be solely responsible, but that investigators are checking out a number of clues. The [X] Rebel Faction, as well as some other loose organisations, are said to be on the suspect list.
We have not yet received any official word from a [X] Rebel Faction representative in response to this. In fact, no faction has yet claimed to be responsible for any of the recent events.

Judging by the events in the last weeks, it would almost seem as though space is a more dangerous place than we like to think. And if there were any doubts regarding the Authorities ability to keep the citizens of the EvoVerse safe, there surely are serious doubts now. One of the most clear signs that something is wrong is the fact that EvoSafe, one of the largest insurance companies in the EvoVerse, has announced that monthly fees for ship and station insurances will be raised with 25% starting next month. Other insurance companies will probably soon follow their example.

Economists are warning for a possible ripple effect through the EvoVerse economy, caused by this. If insurances are more expensive, traders and mercenaries will take more risk in their job looking for a higher profit to cover the bigger expenses. This will in turn increase the number of casualties in the border limits of the EvoVerse. It is also feared that a larger percentage of mercenaries will opt for less legal ways to make their living for the same reasons.
If this turns out to be true, it appears the Authorities are going to have their hands more than full, trying to investigate the destruction of the stations and dealing with a higher crime rate than normal. Let\'s hope things don\'t run out of control more than they already have.

This was ENN with a special new bulletin, thanks for watching. We will keep you updated with any news regarding this subject.

I do not like Insurance Companies(Specially the man made ones!....lol) Never get anything from a claim, they always find a reason in the small print, that is so small that it does not even show on the contract, to not have to cover your claim!.......;):P:cool:

Good day citizens of Evochron. This is ENN coming to you LIVE from Saphire with the new that matters!

A relatively small incident was reported the other day in from the mining fields of Olympus.

As one of the eye witness reports goes, a couple of pilots were mining the fields of Olympus, close to the station there, when a [FF] ship suddenly uncloaked in close range. Surprised by the sudden appearance of the heavily armed fighter and the realization that they had just been watched without knowing it, they turned around and opened fire upon the [FF] ship in blind panic.

"That guy came out of no-where! We felt cornered and saw no other way out than to attack it!", the only survivor of the incident said. When he was asked why they just didn't run away, he responded: "And turn ourselves into prey, like a rabbit to a fox? Heck no, we outnumbered him so we took our best shot! But in hindsight, maybe we should have run... Maybe then my mates would have still been alive..."

As the miners opened fire, the [FF] ship probably called for backup, as after a couple of minutes into the fight, a second [FF] ship appeared.
The results were as can be predicted - devastating. Of all the miners involved in the fight, only one survived. But the man has been so badly wounded that he will probably never fly a ship ever again.

No casualties were reported on the side of the [FF] ships.

What the exact cause for the incident was, is yet to be guessed at. So far no response from the [FF] clan has given any explanation for what happened. The mining fields in Olympus have not been visited quite as much after the incident.

We will keep you informed of any updates regarding this event. Thank you for watching.

Evochron News Network Breaking News!

Reports have been coming in from all over the universe that pirate attacks are on the rise.
"I thought Sapphire was safe from things like that," said one survivor who asked to remain anonymous, "so I wasn't concerned at all when the Pirates declared to all us miners that they where coming for our Metal. But there I was, mining an asteroid not 58k away from Evochron Station and not a ship on my scanner I should add, when a message appears on the com listing off all the contents of my cargo bay! Well I'm not ashamed to admit that I was startled, I even split my coffee, a catastrophic mess in zero-g, grabbing for the stick to spin my ship around looking for my tormentors. Nothing but asteroids and empty space around me as the com starts up again:"

\'All we want is your Metal, trade with us and you won\'t be harmed\'
"Not taking these omniscient phantoms at their word, I decide to go with the better side of valor and engage my IDS to get clear of the asteroids so I can jump away. The moment my engines flare up two ships come out of cloak, one on my port bow and one on my starboard and both not more than 700 away." When asked what model ships the so called "pirates" where flying the anonymous miner got irritable, "I haven't the foggiest idea what kind of ships they were, all I remember is that they where very big and very scary and both very close and within weapons range. I didn't stop to admire their freaking fuselages, I slammed my throttle down as far as it would go and afterburned my platinum and metal laden butt out of there."

[INCOMING MISSILE]
"Counter measures, COUNTER MEASURES! I screamed at my non-voice activated console before finding the button and releasing a few. To no avail it seemed, as my ship shook with the impact and an explosion rippled around my shields. No wait my shields are at 100% and my hull is fine! Keep burning! I shout again to no one in particular and only then notice that I'm not going very fast and my engines are at 10% and completely shot. Deciding that, though absurd and suicidal, maybe fighting them really might be the only choice, I engage inertial to pull my ship around to get the closest pirate in target."

[INCOMING MISSILE]
"I haven't even pulled around yet and didn't even bother with the counter measures as my ship gets rocked by another missile hit. Knowing now that 100% shields and hull means not a whole lot, I look around my console to see which system is damaged. Weapons, completely gone."

Long scan surveillance shot of one of the alleged pirate ships moments before engaging cloak: Imagephoto courtesy of Splosivescorp

"What do you think I bloody did!" the miner shouts when asked what he did next by our ENN corespondent, "Only thing I could do, I targeted the pirate doing all the shouting, Greenbeard was his name, and hit F4 to open my trade console and give the bastard my metal. Now here's the odd part and the thing the guys over at the bar don't believe, but after I handed over my metal, all 25 units of it, I see an item appear in the other side of the trade console. The com chimes again:"

\'Submit\'
"And it doesn't have to tell me twice. I hit the submit button as fast as I can, barely believing my own eyes as I see the Terrain Walker take the place of the metal in my cargobay. I thought there must be a mistake, and that the pirates would surely attack me again to enforce the return of such an expensive piece of equipment so I was completely floored when then next com message explained in exact detail how to install and use my new Walker. Not only that but as they were jumping away, the second pirate, Capt. Abyss if I recall correctly, deployed a repair station so I could fix my systems. Nicest pirates I ever met."

Evochron News Network can neither confirm nor deny these fantastic claims but urges all miners to maintain constant vigilance even in presumably safe systems.

The major difference between a thing that might go wrong and a thing that cannot possibly go wrong is that when a thing that cannot possibly go wrong goes wrong it usually turns out to be impossible to get at or repair.
