Hi Kudach, welcome to EL and the forums!

For modding, check out the customizing kit at the bottom of the following page:
http://www.starwraith.com/evochronlegends/downloads.htm

You can import new ship models into the game, just keep in mind that it might take a few tries to get the scaling correct. Many modders have made new ships for the game, so if you run into any problems don't hesitate to ask. And be sure to share your ships with us once you get them ingame; all of us here like new goodies and fresh new ideas that new people bring to the community :)

As for modding in flyable capital ships, that is not going to be possible as it is a game limitation. The only conceivable way of modding in flyable capital ships is to import the capital ship model as one of the flyable frames. If you do that the capital ship will fly like a small ship and either the scaling will be wrong visually, or the scaling will be right visually and wrong for weapon and collision detection.

Hi Kudach, Welcome to the game and forum. Yes first down load the customizing kit. I'm not a modder but there are a lot of others that have shared quite a lot of good ship mods with the community and will be hapy to help you out....;)

 Like Accountant, most of the guys who mod ships have a link either in their signature or in their avatar. Follow the link and check out their mods ... then U2U them with questions.

You can mod both the ship, itself, and the cockpit. At least one civilain ship is bulky enough for conversion to something bigger ... about the size of a small cruiser or, at the very least, a destroyer: the Levy. If you do convert it, though, you'd probably want to create a cockpit that looks more like a command deck.

;) Maybe in the next incarnation of the game, Vice will make "performance data" a text or config file ... while, at the same time, creating a "check" program for multiplayer (to spot and block modded performance data).

Examining existing modes might be a good way with customizing kit.

They are placeholders. There are some sample files in it. If you use same folders under Evochron's root folder and put required files in it, it works as a mod.

For example, in hud folder, you can find sample files about cockpit mod. Readme file has detailed explanation about them.

If you read related section in text file, you'll understand me better.

As I said before, best way to learn modding is examining existing ones, please note that...

Some modders requested kinda "user interface" for modding earlier but believe me, Evochron's sense is more easy and practical for modding...

Good flying...

 Some* of what's in the default game is hard-coded (no visible files and no visible folders). Modded files placed in a properly titled folder (which is then placed in the main game folder) will override the defaults. The Kit's folders are all properly named and contain examples of the files needed for your mod.

* Namely, the cockpit and ship designs.

Edit: Also, the HUD. But you need not include a modded version of all the files in the HUD folder. For any file not modded (and not included in your folder), the game will revert to default.

Also...I want to have a glowing booster on my ship. I want it to look kind of like the millennium falcon booster. Rectangular and wide. Is this even possible? If so can someone offer some hints on how to achieve this? I'm not sure if I should make a separate "engine" part or have to on the model itself....hope this doesn't sound confusing

Yes you can do everything including Millennium Falcon booster, Millennium Falcon frame and engine. Everything...

Like Eclipse said, you can't give in-game glowing effect. You have to prepare a booster texture and cover booster area. It gives proper effect If map is good...

You can change engine jets as well to give proper effect for Mil Falcon. But other ship jets would be changed too...

You may want to hide existing jets only for Millennium falcon. You can do this as placing existing engine jets inside of the Millennium model. You can't see them from outside.

Well, unless somebody comes along with a definitive answer, you might try:
  • Posting a screen shot of your ship-inside-a- ship for modders to examine.
  • Allowing others to DL your mod to test and see if it's a problem with your graphics card/settings.

This is impossible!
Marvin's suggestions are very good imo...
