I have tried the Evochron Legends demo, but of course was not able to complete very much due to the time limit. My first impression is positive, but I still hesitate to buy the thing. Perhaps some of you might answer the following questions, to guide me in the right direction.
1. I'm playing on a netbook which is the only computer I have (don't laugh or insult me about this ...) , with an external monitor for using standard resolutions. As most netbooks, it has only an Intel onboard chip, which runs many games rather good (WoW, SIns of a Solar Empire, X2 ...) Evochron Legends does run fine, even in 1440x900 (my monitor's resolution), although 1024x768 would be enough.
However, landing on planets is a bit laggy, even in 640x480 and lowest settings. Is there a way to further speed up the graphics than reducing the details, or is there a way to access the planet's trading menu without actually having to land in this town? Can the town model replaced by a simplier one (I already recognized that Evochron can be modded)?
2. Even in native resolution, I have difficulties to read the texts and numbers in the cockpit. Are there any good cockpit mods that enhance readibility?
3. How long until the game gets boring? I mean, I very much like the freeform approach (this was something I always searched in the X series, but it had too much plot and too toy-like aliens), but what about the different missions?
4. Do I really need to have an internet connection whenever I start the game?
5. How many players are usually at the same time in multiplayer?
Thank you,
Mario
