Where are all the bad guys?
Ok, I've been bouncing around Disputed sectors lookin' for a fight. But no one ever shows up. Even when all the stations and cities are under Fed control (I'm Alliance), I see no enemy ships. And every time I manage to find a station under ALC control, there are no combat missions. I know I can go to the Warzones, but the Vonari are too tough for me at this point. Is there some way to get the baddies to come after me?

Yes. Go into enemy territory and build a command module. Then go do something else for awhile. Come back. The enemy should be waiting for you.

Hmmmm...I haven't gotten into the building part of Legacy yet. Seems odd that I can sit just outside a Station deep in Fed Territory and nothing happens (if I stay outside missile range, of course). I'm wondering if my install's gotten bugged somehow. I seriously only see ALC ships (or no ships at all). Have I already won the war?

I doubt you've won the war. But, admittedly, I find more friendly ships even in enemy territory unless I'm near a station. And friendly stations (built by me or another player) seem to attract more enemy ships than default stations. Which has its advantages ... and makes for more interesting viewing via the V key.

Well, maybe you're too unimportant for them -- or a single ship is not considered a danger unless you attack first. Have you tried going there with a fleet? (I don't know if that would change anything; maybe Vice should make enemies more aggressive). From post: 187480, Topic: tid=12618, author=tn_prvteye wrote:Hmmmm...I haven't gotten into the building part of Legacy yet. Deploy sensor stations to locate the enemy. i'm only about 15-20 hours in the game, I've got important devices but didn't engage in combat yet, because the ship upgrades require a lot of money.
But what you are saying about no enemies is strange, I see quite the contrary. See my recent post here:
http://www.starwraith.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=12617
This shows that now the factions engage each others (Alliance vs. Federation), the territory owners change dynamically as does the Economy.
According to the 'Development page' which shows the differences and additions to EM, your combat actions should influence all this as well. Are you playing the newest version 1.2078?
I doubt this 'war engine' will quickly run over you, so you have to move out of Pearl in some hot places. In the vicinity of Saphire there^s a lot of combat going on. Also the 'Regional News' will tell you where the most recent territory losses occur, thus where the action is.

If it's in SP, could it be to do with your chosen settings when you started the profile - AI can be toggled to influencing things or not.

Xenon's suggestion about deploying a sensor station is spot on. Even if you don't see any enemy ships nearby, the sensor station will often reveal a few Reds in the sector.

Ok, still getting weird stuff. I'm sitting in a Disputed (ALC +4) system. All the stations are Fed (I'm ALC)...but no bad guys. Friendlies will jump in...get fired at by the Station I'm near, then jump out.
Only one time playing in the past week did I find any Enemies, and this was in a ALC controlled sector. Just seems like something isn't working right. I really like Mercenary Missions (go here, kill 3 enemies, etc). But I just can't find any.
And I set the Simulation to run without me. I still don't have a Sensor Constructor yet...will try that next when I can find one.

As an ALC pilot, you can find the greatest number of mercenary-type contracts in star systems heavily controlled by the Federation. If not there, then try a war zone. From post: 187596, Topic: tid=12618, author=tn_prvteye wrote:I really like Mercenary Missions (go here, kill 3 enemies, etc). But I just can't find any.

If you e-mail me your current save game (starwraith.com > contact), I'll take a look at conditions you are playing in. It's possible something is keeping them away, either some conditional factor or a problem within the game in those locations.

Thanks, Vice....I'm going to keep messing around a bit first, I don't want to take up your valuable time. And how do I get Mercenary Contracts in Fed controlled areas? All the stations are enemy? I've noticed that when I reload in enemy space there are a few Enemies around if I have saved in "cryo-mode".
And I also got a Sensor Station now. I DID see a few red dots in a Disputed area after awhile...so they are out there. I'll keep experimenting.

Build your own command module (space station) in an empty sector of enemy-held territory. If it's in a sector with a planet, you'll even take control of the cities. From post: 187603, Topic: tid=12618, author=tn_prvteye wrote:And how do I get Mercenary Contracts in Fed controlled areas?

Ah...afraid I don't have the cargo space for all the Metal required at the moment.

As Marvin points out, you must destroy the enemy stations and replace them with your own where they occupy with a station. Otherwise, you can build in territory unclaimed by a station to set up a base for engaging in combat within enemy territory. And how do I get Mercenary Contracts in Fed controlled areas? Until you are ready for that phase of gameplay, you'll likely want to focus on engaging in combat battles within disputed territory where your faction still has stations.
