Just wanted to let you know this, because I'm VERY excited about it, but I've been testing some tweaks to the control system today and it's awesome. The buttons will act like modifiers now. I asked Vice about it because the modifier key was making the original key do it's function plus it's modified function. Example: Cannon + pinkie = mining beam would shoot both cannon and mining beam. Vice whipped up some goodness in about 2 hours and I've been testing and tweaking all afternoon. It's amazing.

Here's what is possible: My X-52 has a trigger and the trigger actually has 2 states, half pull and full pull. I have half-pull = target gunsight, full pull = cannon, pinkie+half-pull = mining beam, pinkie+full-pull=lock mining beam. Basically you now have a real shift key state that you can map to any button. And the order of the buttons matters too, so if you only use your pinkie for an alt key, just map that first. If you want a single button to shoot cannon and beam, then map cannon+beam to that button. You won't need the profiler for this anymore.

Even the HATs are modifiable. I've been messing with the buttons all night trying to perfect my control scheme. So many possibilities now.

I tested with an xbox controller too and what you're asking for can be done now.

This is likely a pretty good idea for players, especially new steam ones.

Having one button do multiple things has already been a big help, glad to see that was brought back btw.

Hey Matchbox, I got the lastest build late last night from Vice with changes based on my feedback and it's awesome. The POV/HATS are mappable, so you can have the same HAT do your view, or press an alt key and it does your shields...really anything.

Just gotta figure out how I like it now, I am still changing my control profile to find the right flow for consistency with the button functions.

The cool thing also is that you can edit/make your own controlprofileX.txt and load up your settings each time. It seems though that each driver gives the axis different numbers, for instance, Vice may have pitch as Axis 2 on his X-52, but on mine it's Axis 1. We'll still need to test a bit with that.
