How is the shield coverage divide among 4 sectors in 3d? Is it a sphere of 4 sections meeting at the 'top' of the ship? Does the targeting computer aim for the center of the ship? If do, and I shoot a ship perpendicular to its top, and it hits dead center, which shield section does it hit? If I hit the border of two or 4 sections, is the load shared?
Thanks!

Shield Question
Are you talking about firing without targeting a specific section of the ship?

Shield Question
Not really. I am asking the questions that I posted specifically. Hpw are the borders of the shield sections a ranged in 3d, not the 2d plane representation in the HUD, how the borders behave (if I hit your top for example, there is no top shield, I asume the borders of the 4 shield sections meet all the the top center - but I can't find a description that this is the case)

Shield Question
I would assume that it's like and orange clove (4 of them), so they meet on top and below.

Shield Question
That is what I asume. So if I hit you at meeting of the borders, how is the load distribution if there is any, or what determines the shield that is hit. Is there bleed at the border areas. This has tactical implications in combat, presenting or denying the top or bottom of your ship needs to be understood as it applies to presenting your shields.
Example: I can hit your front shield from above and behind if the shape is the orange slices. And you could try to make your front shield harder to hit by presenting your top and having a chance it will hit another shield.

Shield Question
it's partioned like a quartered melon.
[file]1162[/file]
Edit:
the double shot (exists cannons with more?) of a particle cannon aims on one point, so both projectiles should only hit one shield quarter.
but theoretical it's possible to hit two quarter if you are very very close (kiss range, haha).

Shield Question
The four shields protect their specific sides.
All four shields combine covering top and bottom sides of the ship.
This way hits from top and bottom spread between the shields.
While directional attacks can be more specificly counteracted by powering the shield towards the attackers direction.
I assume this because I remember being shot at from the top and it lowering all shields equally across the board.
