VERY COOL MY FRIEND! but they Don't need to be 2000x2000. Mine are 256x256, 512x512 0r 1024x1024. Way Easier to Work On.

I have to admit that these are mods from your rainbowish one. I put it in the Paint shop Pro2 program and did things I had no idea about and ended up with something that worked.:D:o:P

You'd need to Remove the BRIGHT AREAS of the Image or DULL Them.

If you mean the default flash of light (which happens even if you insert the text file to keep the entire screen from blossoming to white), then maybe not. I thought I'd found the graphic file which defines it, but I was wrong.

I think you can make it all black and then insert it to get rid of the default flash.

:cool: Thanks. Something new to play around with.

The ships folder contains the following flare-like graphics ... which one(s) need to be modded?
  • flare
  • flare2
  • warp

You should be able to MOD "flare" (Initial Light Burst), "flare2" (Light Burst when OTHER Ship JUMPS), "warp2" (JUMP) and "warp3" (GATE).

The Game Files are 256x256 for "warpX" and 32x32 for "flare".

If you think They are TOO SMALL you can Increase their Size in Increments of 512x512, 1024x1024, 2048x2048.

I wouldn't Increase the size of any "flare" Image as it will end up to "Grainy".

They'll ALL WORK.

M. Grubert, et. al. - The 'technique' to hide or diminish the white flash of warp insertions/recoveries is the creation of a text file entitled - hidefade.txt -. Enter the number - 1 - as the sole occupant of this text file, and then place it in the main game folder. Wonders will thusly abound! ;) [Screen goes deep black instead of brilliant white.] {The number - 0 - is the default white.}

* Vice covered this option in a previous post response to a darkened room/bright flash request, possibly in the b-t slice, IIRC.
