Impressions of the Evochron Universe of games, Mercenaries being the flagship as a example, vary with the source of the opinion. In my experience, the game developer, Vice, continually upgrades the game/sim software and physics, pretty much as needed, to keep the game deployed and playable/flyable. Graphics engines are no less an important consideration than any other necessary function for optimum game performance across platforms. I'm sure this is true of other game developers. There's even a 2D version of the Mercenaries game-server software that is used quite often on the available MP-server offerings. In fact, hop on to MP-space some time, almost all available game servers have someone a-flight. Lots of friendly folk out there who're willing to help you, if you should ask.
