I find the graphics stunning

Post by rsksmiles »

Hello all, I have downloaded and slowly started getting into the EM demo. I have had a look at the in game gfx and they do seem pretty stunning! Great job!

I saw on some threads people saying that the gfx weren't the best - in comparison to what are they not the best?

Anyway here's hoping I get the time to really do this game justice. I haven't played a space sim since Elite and that was on a spectrum.

For the youngsters a spectum came out just after eniac. :D

This is the real age-teller:

Edit: Oh, wait ... I forgot about this one (wrote my first BASIC program on it):

 Very well put, Marv! Yeah..... I recall playing on those as well. As a much younger man, of course. Some early Sega and Nintendo experience tossed in there too... :)

@ rsksmiles: Welcome aboard!

Impressions of the Evochron Universe of games, Mercenaries being the flagship as a example, vary with the source of the opinion. In my experience, the game developer, Vice, continually upgrades the game/sim software and physics, pretty much as needed, to keep the game deployed and playable/flyable. Graphics engines are no less an important consideration than any other necessary function for optimum game performance across platforms. I'm sure this is true of other game developers. There's even a 2D version of the Mercenaries game-server software that is used quite often on the available MP-server offerings. In fact, hop on to MP-space some time, almost all available game servers have someone a-flight. Lots of friendly folk out there who're willing to help you, if you should ask. :)

See y'all out there some time!:cool:

Hi and welcome rsksmiles.

Hop on MP and join in on some joint contracts. Great fun and you'll learn much faster.
Very friendly out there.

Even when you run out of fuel in the middle of nowhere, pilots will answer your calls and bring you some fuel!;)

Hi guys - thanks for the warm welcome.

I have about 30 minutes left on the demo and like the game so far. Will definitely buy the game as is so far a good stress reliever!

I am running the game on a dual core E5300 @ 2.6ghz, geforce 9500T and 2GB ram. So far it runs really smoothly and on a resolution of1680x1050.
I am playing with a bog standard keyboard and mouse any recommendations - joystick or gamepad??

As to multiplayer ... I would like to try it out but I oly get 1 hour, 2 max time off to play - is that doable? Are the servers run 24x7 so that you can just dip in and out when you want?

Most servers run 24/7 ... as for joystick v.s. mouse, it's a toss-up. Personally, I use a joystick (3 axiis, throttle, trigger, HAT, 11 buttons).

Thanks - Is the best place to buy the full game on this site?

I think it is. Vice usually releases new versions days before Steam can catch up. And, when it comes to mods, installing at the default location works best.
