Total Noob here. Just picked up mercenary and loving it.....Even though as we speak i have alt-tabbed out of the game while i drift slowly back towards a station 44k away (traveling at 344mps) thanks to a particularly nasty battle and no means to make repairs myself yet. lovely.

Decided to join the forum as it seems to be such a friendly community. Look forward to seeing you all online at somepoint

would appreciate a little advice on trading........good trade routes/what to trade.......struggling to make money and my ship is about as much use as a space borne washing machine so i need to upgrade. lol

Welcome to the game Axemanant!

May I suggest proceeding with the IMG quest line as this is quite a good way to make some early cash via guild stashes and the quest line will slowly help introduce you to combat as well. If you'd rather do this in Single Player, and you're finding the combat missions difficult, you can hire AI ships to fly in your fleet. If you're in multiplayer, there are usually a few pilots hanging around who are always more than happy to assist newcomers.

I would also recommend reading the Hints & Tips guide, but read this at your own risk as there are quite a few spoilers.

Finally, you can target AI ships, form with them (Default Key: F) and then open the trade console (Default F4 key) and "Request information". On more than one occasion I have received some "Contraband" from them which could be sold for a few million credits!

The IMG Quest is really great for the basics. I recommend it for all new pilots. Good challenges and good game info and skills gained thru experience.
