I am new to Evochron Mercenary and was looking through some of the concepts etc. Was just wondering what are some good "must have" mods for the game IE like HUD or whatever? Does anyone have any recommendations for mods to use and links to download them? I am currently using Steam.
Thanks,

Mods work fine with steam amigo, as for best mods....well that is a matter of taste.
There are mods for almost anything in the game, sounds, graphics, etc.
Try and search the forum for them, you will find very interesting mods.

After getting most of the publicly available ones I feel somewhat qualified to post on it.
Graphic mods really increased my mileage. Specifically nebulas, asteroids, planet Rings, vegetation/fauna, civilian ships high res, military ships high res, ENB. I have one more to try before starting my own and that's the shield stations mod. It wasn't in that post by SeeJay so I missed it at first.
Sounds mods. At least use Jensen's rain sound but I would ignore the chatter file. Because music and sound is different for everyone I would recommend making or downloading a few sound files of your own and dropping them in there.
Navigation Mods. I recommend getting both EvoMetrics and Alloskis tool. Populate Evometrics with SeeJays nav file and then let the other one populate based off of your own exploration. This will allow you to easily notate what you've explored already as well as locate the basic things that you haven't. Please note that SeeJays nav map while detailed is missing a lot if not most hidden objects so if that's why you're getting don't bother.
General mods: The text chat mod helps a little bit. It's still pretty buggy but it is nice when it's working right.
The dual screen HUD mod is nice but far from what I would consider essential to someone willing to mod.
