[EM] Planetary Rings replacement DDS textures

Post by ECC01 »

Here's some higher-res and different planetary ring textures I made from scratch for Evochron Mercenary.
I have no idea if they will work on earlier games.

There's also a less busy png texture for the stars included, many are dimmer and in the background, makes "constellations" look more real to my eyes.

I'm using these alongside Leatherpoker's EM nebulae mod from here: http://www.starwraith.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=6890

Have the full-size shots if there's interest, but tbh I'd rather you enjoyed the graphics full-size in-game anyway :P

@ Marvin,
there is no "inside" as the graphic is a flat-plane projection.
The usual "white mist" appears for harvesting water when close-up.

As usual, use what you want of it, I don't think you have to use all the slots up if wanting to retain the normal graphics.
So just use the rings1.dds or whichever number(s) you want. The rest will stay as per default if not present in the rings directory.

 There's some really impressive "skinning" (texturizing) being done here. Bravo.

As beautiful as this mod is, I couldn't help but notice it put rings on everything for me. Literally every planet and every star was suddenly boasting shiny new rings as soon as I installed it. Did this happen for anyone else, or am I just a derp that installed the mod wrong?

I realize it's not supposed to, but it did for me. Every planet and star suddenly had its own rings. I'm just wondering if this could be the result of a conflict of some kind, and if anyone else has found this problem.

never heard of that glitch, have you tried to reinstall the game?
it may have been corrupted.
