Escape Velocity has always been the benchmark for me that other games haven't been able to beat. WC: Privateer was awesome but too short and too small in scope.

Privateer, another game where I got to the end but never finished.

I think for its "time" privateer was big enough in scope, cripe I ran it on my 386SX.

Only one problem with Escape Velocity was that it doesn't allow direct control over your ship like Privateer and Evochron does in the cockpit.
