I've been trying to find a link to Atollskis Navdata, and I can't find it at all. I apologize if this post isn't in the right section, but can someone please post a link to it?

You'd need the Navdata Executeble and instructions.

Make sure you're using version 1.0 - it has all the map generator stuff in it!

I downloaded version 1.0 from the mediafire link in your sig, but when I tried to run it, Norton SONAR told me it was performing a dangerous action and automatically deleted the .exe file! From post: 113060, Topic: tid=7898, author=Atollski wrote:Make sure you're using version 1.0 - it has all the map generator stuff in it!
So I have had to revert back to v 0.8

Did it say what kind of dangerous action it was doing? When first run, it should only try to open its own configuration file...

Note: I did not choose to block and remove it, but Nortons default settings did so.
I don't know if this is important, but when I installed v1.0 I just dragged the .exe into my EM folder, overwriting v0.8. I assumed v1.0 would pick up all the data files.

Hmm... Would like to know what I added between 0.8 and 1.0 that upsets Norton.
Have compiled with VC++ 2010 (plus a couple of bug fixes) and uploaded v1.01, hopefully this one gets along with Norton!

Sorry, but v1.01 did exactly the same thing to Norton as v1.0. I tried to tell Norton Insight to "trust" the .exe but then Map Log would crash as soon as I started it, with an error in Kernel32.dll.
Then I dragged v0.8 back into my EM folder and it works with no problems.
Very odd indeed.

Just to let you know, I had an issue with 1.0 as well. I think it may actually be a compatibility issue with win7, but not sure. however, 0.8 works fine. When I ran 1.0 it came up on the screen, then immediately stopped working and did the whole, "windows is checking for a solution to the problem" thing. Blast!

Alright. I am also having an issue with 0.8. I input the information into the bottom two log boxes as it said to do in the instructions. For some reason though, when i input this C:\\sw3dg\\EvochronMercenary\\savedata.txt. the log box doesn't allow me to check it, it just stays gray. So I check "Nav" and I get this warning box that pops up saying,
"Unhandled exception has occured in your application. If you click Continue, the application will ignore this error and attempt to continue. If you click Quit, the application will close immediately. Input String was not in a correct format."
Then in the bottom of the warning box I can either click Continue or Quit.
Any ideas? I apologize if I am not giving you enough info, or, for being a nOOb.

Try deleting the navdatasettings file held in the same directory as the navdata program. If no luck, I'll give the code a good kicking until it rolls over and behaves.

Thanks Atollski! Unfortunately I have to leave for work at the moment, but I will try this later on today.

I'm using Vista 32bit and Norton won't let me use either v1.0 or v1.01

It was developed on Vista 32 bit and it worked OK on there. I think that it is throwing some kind of error with the configuration file in/out and Norton intercepts the crash and thinks it's suspicious. A suspicious kinda crash... We need more error handling, by Jove!

I moved navsettings.txt (couldnt find navdatasettings!) but Norton still intercepted v1.01. So I moved logdata, navdata and savedata too, but Norton still won't play ball.
I will stick with v0.8 for now

I'm gonna roll with trying a couple different versions again and see if I can't get it to work. I'll post my results up here either way. I still feel like it's something I myself am doing wrong, not an error with the program itself.
