Planting carried out in Evochron Legends with a jump bug on the planet.

I can understand how you feel that way MasterChu and I know it's frustrating for you and many others, but I assure you, it CAN be done.
It is not easy of course, but one of Vice's favorite expressions is, "Think outside the box".
"That", is as close to a hint that I will ever make.
It is possible that only a few, if any will figure it out, so don't feel bad.
But I will continue to offer my assurances that it can be done.
And, no I have never done it either and I don't want to do it because I am lousy at keeping secrets!
Good luck and don't despair if you can't figure it out, there is no shame in not being able to do it.

:o Well, if by "box" you mean the green box used to designate certain contracts ... it didn't work.

This "thinking" thing seems to be pretty popular, I might give it a try.

Depends on the relative size of the box. It will not be easy to think outside of the box if its relative size is infinite.......;):P

It's as good fun as Sudoku!

I've tried thinking inside the box, outside the box, on the sofa with a coffee. I've tried jumping in, heading down as fast as possible, as near as and as far away from the rings as possible. I've listened to the "military rank" idea and "the sneak in with another ship" idea being debunked.

I've tried all the obvious methods I can think of - next it's the turn of the wierd and wacky (read "desperate")

Is it possible to push and asteroid into an Earth collission vector and follow it down? Or perhaps it will occupy the defence ring long enough to sneak down . . . I wonder if free fall will work . . . Pleading with Earth Defense Control . . . offering them the prize money as a bribe :P . . . getting the whole of MP to try it at the same time to see if we can overwhelm the system . . .

Easy puzzles aren't much fun. Hard ones might cause brain ache, but imagine the satisfaction of cracking it. (though I suspect that with somany trying to solve the problem with so little success, "imagining" will be where it stays :P

I'll continue "worrying at this" for as long as the solution is hidden. Is there any mileage/demand for a spoiler warning-ed thread where people can put in their failed tries? :)

Spoiler Page for failed tries doesn't sound to bad, it would help others avoid the same failed attempts, I would want to get MMaggio's advice on any additional threads, and also how all the participants feel about it? Not a Bad Idea though...:)

I like the idea of a spoiler page, but only because I think the attempts will become increasingly frantic and improbable, and thus fun to read. :P

Boy, am I glad I don't know the whoile answer!
Even now I sence everyones frustration and wish I could give another hint. So here goes...
Vice never thought anyone would try to land on Earth, but there is a loophole.
And by golly, that's the last hint I will ever post to anyone!
From now on, my lips are sealed.

Thanks MMaggio, even though I'm not eligible to claim the loot, I'm curious enough to give this a try. I think I may know what MMaggio is talking about. I'll keep everyone posted. Earth Jumping here I come...:D:D:D

Earth landing

Post by Volyren Nightsong »

Just out of pure curiosity, why would earth try to shoot down your ship anyway? I will admit that I have only a passing familiarity with the fiction behind the evochron universe, but given the vast distance between earth and the nearest system, and the limits of even the best fulcrum drives, Earth should throw a big party for any ship that might be willing to make the trip to trade. Instead they try to blow you out of the sky?
Oh, and dont add me to the contest, I've yet to get on multiplayer, I would rather get the hang of everything before hopping on. (its kind of hard using a saitek ST290 and a logitech dual shock style pad, mapped to shield emitters, power management, thrusters, tractor toggle and trade/inventory/nav menu shortcuts. heck i even have one key set to a macro that opens nav, plots a course a short distance to the left of my position and then auto jumps, just in case im getting whooped) I think I'll wait to hop online until I get my X52 setup. between that and my gamepad, I think I will have a good enough setup to keep up with everyone. Killer game, though. Gotta say that I'm definately impressed. Though it would be nice to be able to switch to a more arcadey style physics, maybe in options, because I absolutely love the wing commander style combat. Prophecy/Secret ops is what got me into space flight sims to begin with.

Hello Volyren Nightsong, It's just one of those unexplainable things (lol) I guess. Welcome to the forum and the Sim. Have fun and hope to see you in "Multi-Player" sometime. :)

 Earth is that way because ... it's politics. As usual. No rational way to explain it. But, then, the inhabitants aren't really rational anyway. To tell the truth, that wall isn't there to keep others out ... it's to keep Earthers in.
