IMG Quest Help Please

hi again guys..

One of the only things i have left to do in game is the IMG Quest..

i started it on new hope at the planet base. did that ok. then the second mission but now its stoped! i follow Seejays IMG quest page on his site and have been to most of them but i cant find where to carry on..

on my stats page it says quest progress "3".. ive been to 1-10 on seejays list and i cant pick up the next quest anywhere..

what am i doing wrong ??

Go to the docking menu (F3) and click on the "News" option. Near the bottom, you can then select "View last quest message" ... click on that, read what it says (in the Chat window) and then post what's written.

when i go to news page and hit the "View last quest message" nothing happens..

but on player stats still says quest progress "3"

sceems weird..

and a password ? really ? hehe

no its weird, i open news click "View last quest message" and nothing happens. after the first quest it worked ok but after i finished the second quest its like the quest has died, like i said ive been to all locations on seejays list from new hope to hidden pearl and i cant pick up the third part anywhere.. but i really wanna see it though to the end..

very weird indeed..

i U2Ued seejay and he asked me to send him the last "View last quest message" but i havnt got anything to send him lol

Ummm ... do you mean you've done the Quest for Peace (no, that wouldn't be correct if your progress is only 3).

This happened to me once.

For me it turned out I had forgotten that I had add a questtext.txt file into the game folder to try out a custom quest somebody had made months ago and forgot to delete it afterwards.

Yes, if the custom quest is meant to append the default quest, it's first step will be way past number 3 ... but, since the text file overrides the default quest, the game will ignore it. Consequently, if you haven't finished the default quest, the game will stop displaying messages until you get to the point where the custom quest begins. To reinstate the default quest, just remove the custom text file from the game folder.

If everything else fails, send Vice your profile and ask him to reset the Quest Count.
Also make sure you have the original Quest file in your game folder.

The Quest for Peace is designed to work as the IMG Quest as well if you haven't finished it.

hi guys thanks for ya info.

i have the quest for peace i got from seejay. i did everything it said in his read me file. i put my old quest.dat file in a safe place and replaced it with the moded quest.dat file and as the readme file says press F3 again and follow what it says. i did this and still nothing.. so with the new quest file installed i followered seejays list of all locations from newhope all the way down the list to hidden pearl in the hope i can pick it up somewhere but i couldnt so i changed the quest.dat file back to the original one and have the quest for peace file ready for another day.. something i see tho after i added new quest file is that my map was blank, from cockpit view i could see planets. stars, jump gates etc but on my map every system was blank, looking at the map was like looking at a deep space map.

i started the game as a "trader" not a merc could this have anything to do with it ?

If you did finish the original Quest with a certain pilot profile, you will have to use that pilot profile to start the Quest for Peace. I do not remember how many missions or objectives where in the original quest but say it was 20, Your pilot profile should be at 20 and you should use that profile to do the Quest for Peace and the Quest for Peace would start at mission objective 21 or what ever the next number is of the original. So when you finished the original Quest that is when you swap the original quest.dat file with the Quest for Peace quest.dat file. I think this is how it works iirc!

As for Trader or Mercenary I'm not sure! If you where able to do some of the quest as a trader I suppose it should not make a difference. The only difference would be if you changed to a different pilot profile to continue the quest! You can not change pilot profiles to continue a Quest you where on with a different pilot Profile!....

Any profile which starts you off in a civilian ship is good to get the original quest. If you started out in a military ship, you'll need to either sell it or store it and get a civvy ship before you'll get the first quest message.

The Quest for Peace starts at step 26, which is where the original quest ends (the modded quest overlaps the original by one step). If you never progress as far as 26, then the Quest for Peace will never kick in.
