Hi just got to New Hope and landed. Saved game before getting the contract.
Now when I start the game again and get the initial screen - I can select the Pilot but there seems to be no way to then start the game where I kleft off - landed at New Hope. Clicking Launch the Game actually launches me above the landing pad and you have to land again. This seems a bit stupid - is there anyway to save on a Planet and restart in the City?

How many saved profiles do you have?
How did you save (Esc - choose profile and save - return to game) OR (Alt-F9)?
(If you really saved the game before the contract and after landing, then that is where you restart)

I have 3 entries in the profiles a miner -not used yet; and two for the Mercenary I am playing - one as originally set up and one profile saved at New Hope. I used Esc and saved the profile.

I suggest you go into the game and park at a station
Use escape to save your game and make a note of the profile you saved it as, then exit the game, use the pilot profile list to choose the game you just saved and reload.
If all goes well you should be in the station
It's easy too lose track of which profile you save in - I use 1,2 & 3 for identical copies of my main working profile
If you use Alt-F9 to save then it automatically uses the profile you are playing with

Saving / Launching games
If you save while docked at a city and then exit the game, when you next start you'll be slightly above the city's docking bay. Wait maybe two or three seconds while your ship rights itself (on entry, the ship is oriented toward the galactic plane but cities are oriented toward the surface) ... the docking tractor beam will then again capture your ship and automatically dock it.
