Hi guys,
Playing with a joypad, i have a limited number of buttons and i have to manage it with few tips so a question for experts.
I thought to use the couple "Inertial Reverse/Afterburner" instead of "Inertial Reverse/Inertial forward" during my flights in inertia.
Do this configuration seem right to you?
Finally, do you use strafes hotkeys during dogfights in inertial system on or it isn't necessary to do it?
Thanks for your upcoming feedbacks.

Inertial Reverse / Afterburner
Hi and welcome SeiZ64.
I'm using a X52 Stick/Throttle and have hotkeys for all strafe keys.
Do you know that when Reverse thrust is pressed you can use Afterburner as well
in reverse mode?
More pilots will help you out that uses joypad I'm sure.

Inertial Reverse / Afterburner
Hi SeeJay,
Your configuration seems to be practical and very enjoyable.
For now i'm using a THRUSTMASTER dual trigger with a keyboard logitech G13.
When i hold Inertial Reverse+Afterburner i go forward only so what interest to do that?
Inertial forward accelerate less quickly than Afterburner but both go forward. Is it inertial forward do not use thrusters and could be less targeted by missiles ?

Inertial Reverse / Afterburner
When using reverse thrust "/" use your throttle and it will give you afterburner in reverse direction.
It works both in IDS and Inertia mode. (Not with the strafing thrusters)
When afterburner is engaged your heatsignature is much higher, even if you are in Inertia mode.
Use it with caution when you have inbound missiles. Also use the knowledge of the
missiles speed to your advantage. Both when going straight at them and when outrunning them.
The fastest missile is at 1800 if I recall correct. They don't turn too quickly either.

Inertial Reverse / Afterburner
Strafe thrusters and inertial-mode flight go hand-in-hand, in combat scenarios, planetfall, or otherwise. In fact inartial-mode combat skills are for the most part de rigure here. Both in-game combat/kill/pirate patrol contracts/missions, and in the PvP slap-n-tickle bouts. And as SeeJay states, afterburners do tend to lite up the party, so to speak.
When you get the in-bound missile alarms and HUD icon indicator; as you can whilst in inertial mode, turn away from the inbound on thrusters - fire CM's as/when desired. Install the AMS if so desired. I use it liberally. :] And, have found its assistance many times more than nominal. If you're engaging in combat, you may consider toggling betwixt IDS and Inertial modes, and using/abusing the strafe hot-keys as you will. (Or you could map them to toggles of your choice.) Maneuvering/Target acquisition and consistant pounding away at their shields, armor, and/or engine is the key here. AI/NPC reds have about the same access to ships equipment/weapons systems that you do. And is dependant upon the Quadrant system tech that you're currently operating within. (Inclusive of CZ/WZ's) Couple of interest items you may discover about the difference.
And of course, the other Mercs like you.....
Well, that's all I'm sayen.

Inertial Reverse / Afterburner
Thank you for your advices guys.
This week-end i'll train me to inertial dogfights with probably a new hotas, it seems to my problem of buttons will disapear with him:D.
I tryed again this morning what u said to me Seejay about inertial reverse + afterburner but i did something wrong because it not works for me, my ship continu to go forward and when i watch the 3rd view, the thrust of afterburner come to the back engine.
i used throttle(trigger) then hotkey for afterburner but the result seem to be the same.
PS: thank for your u2u
