So where will it go? What will there be? Who knows? there's only one way to find out!

So what is south of sapphire? or anywhere in that matter...

I may have to do a little exploration soon. see what's going down!!!

well, how about up??? seen the heavens???
i'll try for hell first!!!

If there's nothing, somebody please tell me before I head off on a complete wasted journey into deep nothingness... lol

As far as I know, most items in all the games have been at or near the central plain ( 0 ). Some planets have been located at - or +. I can not say for sure it there is anything located waaaaaaaayyy off the main plane but good luck.;)

If you enjoy drifting in open endless empty space, then that approach will be great.

I will say that in some of the less...orderly parts of the universe, there are occasionally to be found planets that are a bit off the ecliptic. The trouble is, they are few and far between, so unless you know the location of one, it is like trying to hit a dartboard on the moon from Earth with your eyes closed.

Yeah i can imagine! Not such a fantastic idea and I'm glad I said something before actually going ahead... it would've driven me mad lol!

it is awesome to find such a random thing tho...not that I have...yet...

you may observe some strange things way out there,
especially past 20000 sectors or so.

Are these strange things congruent with the known laws of the universe, do you think, or are they artifacts from floating-point division errors and other glitches in the system?

It would be fun to explore a universe and find oddities out there, but I do not want to go to the edge of the simulation and see the walls like in the 13th Floor.

 Some astrophysicists already ponder the idea that the universe can think. Ergo, there might be a correlation between laws of the universe (known or not) and mathematical errors. As for the Evoverse, the error is mostly gravitational ... reflecting the mystery of expansion.

Nor surprising really - the milky way is pretty level and so are solar systems (at least ours is!)

:)

Spoiler select the text to read it :D

there isn't much that changes beyond about 20K out going NSE or W from Sapphire so I suspect there will be very little changing going up or down - but who knows? - there are still lots of things that haven't been checked and lots of new discoveries (like the recently announced HHGtTG Easter Egg)

Spooky things start to happen when you get really far out from the core systems... anyone know what became of the "ghost" planet?

 An object can be in two places at the same time ... until you observe one of them. But the two places are usually very far apart (at least 19,999 sectors) and, therefore, it's almost impossible to prove that what you observe is really the same object as one located somewhere else.

 Cruise somewhere around the 19,999 sector range and look for oddities. Beyond that, the territory belongs to Charles Lutwidge Dodgson.
