Evochron Mercenary Keyboard Issue
I purchased Evochron Mercenary not five minutes ago, and have already run into problems. Namely, when it came time for me to change my velocity during the tutorial, the W and S keys did nothing. I continued by using my mousewheel. I'm now stuck at the rolling portion of the tutorial, as my Q and E keys receive no response from the game. I have checked, and my keyboard is fully functional and I have not tampered with the controls at all. I opened up the controls and experimentally modified a single control before resetting them to default, thus proving that the game IS registering my keyboard's input. So... Why isn't it working?

Evochron Mercenary Keyboard Issue
Not sure, doesn't sound like a problem that's come up before. What kind of keyboard are you using? One step you can try is deleting the keymap8.sw file from the save data folder (default c:\\sw3dg\\EvochronMercenary), then relaunch and test the game. This will prompt the game to rebuild the key configuration file entirely. One cause is if one of the entry boxes has been left open, such as fuel entry, map log, etc.

Evochron Mercenary Keyboard Issue
Hi Weknair, welcome to the game and forum!.....Hope to see you out there some time!.....

I'm not sure what the problem is, try turning IDS (Inertial Dampening System) off with "Space Bar" and see if that makes any difference. Also in the game setup try to set control to Keyboard!....

Oooops, Vice beat me to it!....Try Vice's advice first, he is the one man game developer!....

Evochron Mercenary Keyboard Issue
Sorry to bother yall! Restarting the game did the trick, and the problem has not recurred since. Very much enjoying it, though I wish there there was a little more documentation and a few more active guides! Currently struggling with ship design and trying not to get blown up in battle.
I suppose I ought to make a new topic, but its easier to just post it here:
I followed Esben's guide for starting a mining character, and have reached the end of said guide. I have more money than I know what to do with. I bought the best frame I could afford/find, a Legacy. From there, I have level 5 and 6 pretty much everything. I have a Predator Cannon and Neodymium Laser, in addition to C5 Shields, Drive, Repair and Cargo Scanner. Yet I can't seem to fight worth a darn. Since I got my upgraded weapons, I run out of energy ridiculously fast. This makes me think that perhaps there's a way to upgrade your core? If so, I can't seem to find it. Perhaps I'm just horrible at managing resources and handling myself in a fight. The combat tutorials listed in the EM help seem to be down, which makes things a bit harder.
Thank you for your help! Overall I'm still having a good time!
Edit: And for the life of me I can't seem to figure out how to stack items! I could have sworn I heard the control for it somewhere, but I can't seem to find it. It's probably something really simple, but its been bugging the crap out of me.

Editedit: Well, I seem to have solved my weapon-energy problem a bit by getting a Cannon Relay System. Now the problem is just me dying so darn fast. I have some of the best gear.. I ought to be able to take on the lowliest contracts involving fights. I can't take down a two-fighter escort. The missiles just come way too fast, and my shields fall like nothing, despite being level 8. :/

Head to head, the enemy always wins. There's more of them and they can take a lot of punishment. Remember, their aim is just as good as yours is, or slightly inferior if you fight correctly.
It's actually pretty simple once you get the hang of it. You just have to remember that this isn't atmospheric combat. It's more like jousting. First, set your ship to inertia. I recommend binding strafing controls to one of your directional key sets (wasd, for example) and binding inertial thrust to something convenient. Whenever you run into a group of enemies, pick one at the edge (they form into clumps in larger packs), point your ship so you're moving toward the edge (not into the group, this is important), then accelerate to 1.3k or so. Just unload on your target until you're out of range again. Enemies never seem to exceed 1.2k in pursuit speed. Rinse and repeat till everyone's dead. Also try shifting shield/weapon charge rates as needed to keep your shields up while increasing weapon charge during strafing runs.
This tactic will also help negate missiles. Without IDS on, your countermeasures will fool them, and you can shoot the missiles without changing direction.
