When I log into the multiplayer game mode, I see pilots communicating with each other in the message console. they even welcome me to the game. Question 1. Do I need voice recognition software and a computer microphone to communicate with other players? Question 2. Is there a subroutine or key command in the game that I need to activate to communicate with other players?
Looking forward to communicating with other players in MP mode

You just press the ENTER key to bring up the chat input. Press ENTER type your message and press ENTER again.
There is voice chat, however not all servers support it due to bandwith and ping considerations. I think the default key for voice in-game is numpad . (period) And for that you would need a microphone, but only for voice chat. Text chat requires nothing extra.

A lot of the clans and vets use teamspeak 3 ask around for the server info.

Yup, it's listed in the log-on message for G1. You just gotta tell everyone on the server to stop chatting while you copy the addy.
