Difference bt saving a frame template and storing a frame in hangar

Post by kapakio »

It's not that I'm too lazy to investigate it mysefl (well, maybe it is) but I'm now at work and I'm curious to understand the difference.

When I stored my civ ship to try a military one, I noticed that none of the equipment is stored with the ship, just the frame (I need to store the equipment separetely). Then to buy another ship I open the shipyard option and start selecting the military frame and components, starting with the current frame even if it's already stored.

So, I see no difference on storing the frame in the hangar. What am I missing?

Difference bt saving a frame template and storing a frame in hangar

Hi.

The difference is that instead of storing your ship, you can save a template of how you would like
to build your new ship. The station your are at might not have all things that you need for it.
You can then bring up that template and build it when you dock at a station that has what you need.

At least that is how I think it works. Never used it myself thou.

Thanks SeeJay.

So, if that is the only difference, the only benefit I can see of storing your ship frame in the hangar is to avoid to go where the frame is available (for high end frames) to get it back.

Well, it is convenient, but does not feel like you are really parking your ship in the hangar. It's like your ship was disassembled and the parts were stored, but only after you mofify your ship in the shipyard.
