Transfer from single player to multi-player

Post by skyhawk2107 »

I have been playing the single player of this game and I love it, I have built a couple of stations, done as many upgrades as possible to my ship and I am really enjoying the game.

I want to create my own dedicated server for my friends and I have a few questions.

1. If I make a dedicated server will all the single player stations I have made disappear in this new "universe"? If so is there a way to transfer the custom stations to the dedicated server (ie a file I can transfer to the server directory)?

2. I played on a "on the fly setup" server my friend made and when I connected it said he had a 256k connection (which he doesn't he has a fiber connection) and only recommended that 4 players connect, is that a suggestion or a hard limit? Where would you change the connection type if it is wrong? What is the maximum number of players that could be connected?

Transfer from single player to multi-player

The stations that you built in solo-play do not, to my knowledge/experience, transfer over to MP-space. Just your pilot profile(s) transfer between.

1. Not sure if this one can be done at all, even with "hacker mojo".

2. If your "on-the-fly setup" was within the standard game software MP set-up, you can toggle from a DSL/256K-4 players; to a T-1/LAN-36 players, from the MP set-up menu. Other considerations, I believe require the installation/launching of the actual game server software. Same selection offerings, or so I'm reliably informed. Your friend may have just had the 256k-4 player suite toggled on, and hadn't as yet toggled thru the other available hook-ups to "match" his hardware/i-net connxn. :)
