DISTRESS CALL 001200C (Lost in empty space)
-ACTIVE DISTRESS CALL-
I tried Evochron for the first time today (I've been watching it since it came out), and found it to be a little tricky/frustrating to get used to. I think I've finally gotten the hang of everything excluding navigation.
Using the visual nav map was tricky enough at first, I never bothered to input direct nav coordinates until I was required to travel to another sector. Since nothing in the game directly tells you how to travel between them exactly, I figured I'd try inputting nav coordinates and using the autopilot for the first time. This was a mistake on my part.
This sent me into a perpetual loop of jumps (about 10 or 12 before I got fed up) that would cycle through several identical points in succession. Each would leave me in empty space with nothing on my radar but my nav point and nothing even remotely close to me on the nav map. Zooming out or switching to rear view would show nothing but empty space.
Now, I am lost in emptiness... not sure where I am. My current coordinates are:
System: Glacia
x: 19060 sx: 54
y: 2252 sx: 14
z: 155 sx: 0
If anyone can help before I run out of oxygen or patience, you would be greatly appreciated!
.... this self-destruct button is looking mighty good right now....

DISTRESS CALL 001200C (Lost in empty space)
I'm trying it on single-player for now.
I'm worried about jumping on multiplayer to solve problem I should be smart enough to fix 'cause I'll just keep doing it.
I suppose I should try it though.

There is nothing we can do for you in single player. Jump onto MP, choose a server with the most players active and ask for help. I'll be very surprised if someone doesn't come to your aid.
Alternatively, when was the last time you saved? Use the self destruct if you dont wish to go onto MP.

As my fellow pilots said: Join MP and we can top you off with fuel if you need.
You are not very far out. If you have fuel left, just enter the following coords and hit Auto Pilot. (Alt F)
SX=0, X=0
SY=0, Y=0
SZ=0, Z=0
That will bring you back to where you started the game.
With a Mantis Jump Drive it will take 6 jumps.
With a Fulcrum Drive C1 it will take 54 jumps.
Check out DaveK:s (Incoming) manual for navigation.
You'll find it here:

Good luck!

Thanks for all the help guys.
I've got plenty of fuel left, I was just curious how I could screw up an inter-sector jump that bad so I don't do it again. I don't wanna bother y'all with a tow every time I get myself stranded in the ass end of Omicron Persei 8.
I suppose this teaches me to buy a new jump drive as soon humanly possible though.

Do you mean you were trying to travel from system to system (SX,SY,SZ to different SX,XY,SZ)?
Or locally in the system sector to sector(X,Y,Z to different X,Y,Z)?
This information can be found in game at the top of the nav map in the two boxes, one is marked destination.
For the former look for a jump gate (purple cross thing on nav map) whenever you make it back in system and for the latter manual navigation might be the way to go with a lower end drive.
Also some systems have jump gates for local jumps (I know Sapphire system has one).

I typed my coordinates directly into the nav map and hit autopilot. It was a simple enough inter-sector jump (looking for the secret merc caches in Glacia system) but I must've gotten something wrong.
I knew the difference between the two coordinates, though I didn't know about gates until last night.
I still haven't figured out what went haywire with my jumps or my coordinates, but I haven't done it again.
Yet.
