How do you complete the second IMG quest (race)?

Hi everyone. I just got the game and am having trouble winning the race that is the secong IMG quest. The other pilot just streaks ahead everytime.

Any tips? Do I need to upgrade my ship or something?

Hi and welcome.

- Set your IDS multiplier to 2.
- Fly in IDS mode (Not inertia)
- Keep your speed at or slightly above 1000.
- Don't look at the other ship, concentrate on your own.

Thanks for the welcome guys! The tip worked. I hadn't cottoned on to the fact that you could increase the IDS rate. I was pootling along at around 500
