Seriously frustrated with the whole building stations business. I stumbled across the gate to Agate earlier in the evening, and I've liked the place so much I'm wanting to set up shop. Just build myself a personal, dockable station to operate out of. Only, despite having purchased a deploy constructor and a build constructor I can't seem to build in any of the locations I want to (must be within +/-50K, other trade station within 2 sectors etc.) There's a nebula in the middle of the system, tried building there: Can't. thought about above the north pole of a moon: Can't.

Could someone please explain to me ALL of the relevant rules and restrictions for building buildable stations?

Also:
  1. What types of dockable stations can I build?
  2. Which ones have inventory for sale (weapons, gear, etc.)
  3. Can I name stations other than trade stations or not?

The rules are a little bit different depending on what you are building. And if you can not build something some where you want you get a short message why you can not build there!.

1. First rule is you have to build within the 50k coordinate limit from the center of a sector So for example X=49000, Y=0, Z=-49000 will work and X=51000, Y=0, Z=-51000 will not work.

2. Second rule is you can not build a trade Station within 2 Sectors of another!

3. Third rule when deploying or building you have to be at a complete stop and stand still, YOU CAN NOT MOVE TO LOOK AROUND unless you have Track IR and can look around by moving your head. But you can not turn or move your ship while deploying or building!...

4. There is a limit of how many deployables or supplemental Stations you can deploy near a Trade Station or Constructor Station, I'm not sure about what the limit is for this rule though. I know I was able to build four deployables around a Station before running out of Space within the 50K coordinate limit.

1. Trade Stations, Constructor Stations are dockable. Refuel Stations and Repair Stations do not have a docking bay but you get close to them for repair and refueling.

2. Trade Stations have trading inventory. Constructor Stations you can have things build from Raw Materials!

3. Trade Stations you can name!...Other stations I do not think you can name!

Actually, you CAN rotate your ship on axis, you just can't move forward or backward or strafe around.
I did this many times building stations and shooting down reds that wanted to stop me.

Also, F10 is the default key for 'Mouse Look' which offers the full range of motion provided by TrackIR - controlled by your mouse. ;)

Maybe for Stations you can! But for deployes you can't. I know for deployes you can not because I tried to turn on my axis to shoot down enemies while deploying a shield aray and it would not let me since turning on your axis activates your lateral thrusters in oposite direction to make you turn!....;):cool:

Deploying objects is instant and takes less than a second??

I normally deploy objects on the fly (Not standing still).

OK, today I did some extensive testing and some things have changed from the last time I tested these long time ago!...LOL

1. The 50k coordinate rule aplies to all Constructor Builds and only to the Deployed Sensor Station, all other Deploys except mining probe you can deploy anywhere.

2. You can not build a Trade station within 2 sectors of another one!

3. For Constructor Builds you have to be at a complete standstill and you can turn around, up and down to look around while construction is in progress.
For Deployes you can deploy certain ones on the fly not all of them tough since some rules apply to 2 of them and some rules might apply to others! Have not tested all of the deploys on the fly!

4. You can Build one of each Constructor build and one of Each Deploys in an empty Sector using the above rules!

5. Only Stations you can name are Player Build Trade Stations!

6. Trade Stations and Carriers and City docks are the only ones that have a Trade Inventory.

7. Constructor Station does not have a trade inventory. You can have equipment build from raw materials at them and you can run available contracts from them!....;):cool:
