Navigating to a distress beacon.

Post by XinCasa »

'Sup guys. In response to a timed distress beacon, I checked & double checked the coordinates of the distress beacon msg both before & after the time out. After entering the coordinates in the destination positions I don't get a Nav point shown either in the Nav Console or in space. I'm in the same quadrant & system as the distress beacon msg. What am I doing wrong? Good Luck Pilots.

Ussualy the distress mesage also gives you the Planet, City or Station name to deliver the emergency supplies to.
If it is a Planet or City then it is ussualy the main City on that planet and if the planet has just 1 City then it is that City since you only can dock and deliver supplies at Cities or Stations!.....;)

Hello Maarschalk. The distress beacon is to a ship at the given coordinates, and I"m in the same system as the beacon (Cerulean B). My problem is that after entering the correct (double checked) coordinates in the nav console, I get no nav point!! Good Luck Pilot

If you can not see the Nav Point on your Nav Map or in Space the Nav Point must be in a different system. Check your HUD and look in all direction including up and down for a yellow box that has NAV writen under it. If you find this box and it has a number under it then it is in the sector you are in. But if it has NAV under it then it is in a different sector or to far away in another system to jump to. Make sure your SX, SY, SZ matches, these are the sector or system coordinates you need to find first.....;)

Oh, yes and also make sure you hit Enter to exit the coordinates entry after entering the coordinates!.....;)

Tnx Maarschalk. I did check my hud and it did have an unnumbered nav marker. Yet I still don't understand. I am in The Cerulean sector. The planet Cerulean B is in sight of my in-space location. The distress beacon msg gave Cerulean B the "near location" for the distressed ship, yet no nav marker shows in the nav map. I did hit enter after entering the correct coordinates. I'm pretty sure that the X, Y, Z, & SX, SY, SZ, nav entries matched the given but I must've been wrong even after double checking. Good Luck Pilot

By now the timer has expired any way and the ship would be long gone!....Also if the timer of the distress expired you will not be able to finish it succesfully anyway.....;)

The problem is not the timer nor that the ship is gone. The problem is that after I enter the correct coordinates while in the same system, I get an unnumbered nav point that indicates the coordinates are not in the system!! Good Luck Pilot

 Make sure you're putting sub-sector coordinates in the X, Y and Z Desination windows ... then check that the SX, SY and SZ Destination coordinates match those of the message.

'Sup Marvin. That's my point! After double checking that my Nav map coordinates matched both distress msg coordinates while in the same Cerulean system-both before & after the msg expired-no nav point showed in the Nav map, but an unnumbered nav point showed up in space.

So I'm thinking I must have made a mistake (even when writing them down) in entering the Nav map coordinates despite my double checking after all. Good Luck Pilot

 Well, next time you want to give it a try, take a screenshot of the Nav Map with your destination coordinates and the distress message in chat. So somebody can compare them to make sure that's not the problem.

Press PrtScn on your Keyboard(Top left Key between the Letter Keys and the Number Pad Keys), Then open up Paint and select paste! What ever was showing on your Display at the time you pressed PrtScn will now show in Paint. Save the Paint file and post it on Photobucket just like your Avatar and then post it here in this thread.....;)
