PS3 controler setup issues ( DS3 Tool , Motionjoy )

Post by SkyReaper »

Well, totally new here and liked what I've seen so far of the game. However I seem to have trouble configuring my PS3 controler to work with it which I find is a bloody shame.

Tried the search option in the forums but didn't find anything that matched the problem at hand, so here we are. Decided to atleast add a few keywords incase some other unfortunate soul would have a similar problem.

In any case, anyone here able to help me out?

PS3 controler setup issues ( DS3 Tool , Motionjoy )

Post by SkyReaper »

I can't use the PS3 controler. When I go into the game's control setup screen, it won't register the buttons I press, and this is despite the fact that I already use the same controler for several other games on my PC.

So the most likely thing here is that I'm doing something wrong, but there's also a chance that the game doesn't recognise the controler?

I don't know, I'm not exactly the best with computers. Whatever the case may be, I'm hoping the issue can be resolved. XD

If Windows can see it, the game should be able to also. First, did you select the device ID using the '<<<<' and '>>>>' arrow keys at the top of the Configure Controls menu? You may have more than one device plugged in, in which case you'll need to just select the device from all of the ones available. The game supports up to 10 simultaneous control devices and the arrow keys let you toggle through each one as you map axis and button controls.

There doesn't seem to be any change, I believe there's only one device active.

Gona fiddle with the axis a bit, I just thought of something.

EDIT: I was wrong, I have a Razor Nostromo plugged in and forgot about it. The game recognises this device, not the controler it seems.

Then you'll just need to switch the device ID to whatever slot the PS3 controller is using.

Well, I'm getting somewhere now. It does recognise the controller. I'll have to keep at it to figure out how to work in the axis... axi... axisses... w/e. XD

Anyway, thanks alot for helping me out!

Haha! Thanks, aand so do I! I just need to get a handle on these controls first.

After some tests, turns out the PS3 controller falls short from being ideal to pilot a ship. Two to 4 more buttons would have done it. Shame really, gona rely on my mouse and keyboard, though this experience did give me a few ideas.

Made me remember I have a Razer Nostromo. Gona dust it off and finally put it to good use. Bought the thing, but never used it because I was already too used to playing all my games with the controls I had. New game, new chance!

EDIT: Although now I'm having a little bit of trouble configuring my mouse. It's a cyborg R.A.T. 7. Was thinking of using its second scroll wheel to roll the ship left and right, so I bound it to Q and E, but it won't roll an inch when I use it.

Also, I'm really tempted to start a philosophical debate on that sig of yours Maarschalk. Light and dark, good and evil, we hold very different views on both these things it seems. XD
