How I feel about this game

Post by tk5800thesecond »

Its positive don't worry

after playing x2 I was a bit disappointed that I couldn't go down to the planets I could see, then after playing freelancer i was again disappointed that I couldn't do much on the planet, even though I could go to the planet through a cut scene

then i bought Evochron Mercenary

Upon receiving my first mission telling me to go to the trade city on the planet i thought i would be entering some sort of cut scene, but no, I was awestruck when i could fly down to the planet, and not only that fly around the entire planet

the beauty of such a mundane task took me by surprise, and as I accepted a contract and headed up into space, I broke through the cloud bank and saw the stars before me eyes

and I cried

so to the creator of this game, thank you for taking the time and energy to create such a beautiful game...oh yeah and the rest of the space combat and trading is cool as well :P

 One of my favorite features. The other being the ability to point my nose in any direction, engage inertial, accelerate ... and keep right on going. Forever.

So far it feels like the best space game ever but there are some weird things:

- The particule you shoot don't have the same inertia than your vessel. If you get some inertia and turn your ship around to shoot the particule won't go in front of your ship but will act as if it was shoot from that point but with 0 inertia. In space with no friction this is totally unrealistic.

- Your accelaration decrease with speed. Again without friction it doesn't make sense. Maybe it is deliberate though to avoid stressing our CPUs with vessel going to fast.

Hi Pnume, and welcome to the game and forums.

The reticule moves like that to indicate the spot where your weapons fire will hit the target. As your ship moves, you will not hit the target where you're aiming. The 'drifting' reticule compensates for this and shows you where the weapons will hit.
About the decrease in acceleration: that's a good one. not sure if I ever noticed it myself. Maybe someone has an answer to it.

Hope to see you on one of the servers some time!

The decrease in acceleration is normal as nothing can go faster then the speed of light in theory. So once you start to reach speeds closer to the speed of light your acceleration should decrease even when there is no friction otherwise you would keep accelerating past the speed of light which in theory is impossible! Kind of a Paradox..;):P:cool:

Also accelaration only takes place while thrusters are engaged. To keep accelerating you would need to keep adding thrust. Once you stop the thrust you will travel at the constant speed in inertia that you reached when thrusters where turned off.

I think some compromises in realism were made in order to make the game fun. A TRUE space simulator with exactly corrects physics would be very boring, and very difficult.
