Steam activation for old players?

I know I asked about this in other thread but I sense this is going to be interesting info for steam users who bought the game before it was on steam.

So, can we activate the game on steam? I'd really like the automated updates and most likely faster downloads (I can get around 10MB/s from steam, so yea, it would be an improvement

)

Not a big issue for me. I've had a steam account since Half Life 2. I will probably load this into my steam account, if the updates are going to done immediately they become available. Until this question is answered, I'll stick to the old method.

Dang, already bought another copy just for steam... So I guess i'll just pass my original Mercenary code onto someone else if that's alright with Vice.
