Where is everyone??

So I decided I was ready to brave the MP universe and logged onto a server...only to find nobody around...so I logged on to the other available server to find...nobody around...I did this a few times over a week or two and am now back to single player

It's a timezone thing.

I'm loggin on almost every night at 9-10pm UTC.

I've had the same experience as you, it gets rather empty on the early morning hours but It depends on your time zone, since we have an international community of pilots here. I play on pacific standard time.

There were people on at the time you made your post and there is currently no 'other' server, so I'm wondering if maybe you are referring to a different game? Which game are you signing into and what server names?

Also, if you sign in and can't see any other players on the list, you may be in the chat mode only. That can happen if the game is not allowed to fully connect to the server due to security/firewall settings you may have in place. Make sure the required ports are accessible by the game.

As Vice said Blue_Wolf, must be a timing issue, as there is usually at least someone on at most all times. Yesterday maxed out at 12 on at once, but there was a good bit of activity throughout, although there is generally a small gap between when the Europeans leave and the Americas arrive, and from when they leave to when the Aussies show up. So just keep trying!

Also, it's a big galaxy and, therefore, other pilots could be busy elsewhere. If they don't chat, the only way you'd know you're not alone is if you use the tilde key (~) to display a list of players currently on line. (There is another key that can be used instead ... but I forget which one.)

hey 8Blue..... im normaly on sunday morning 2 hours off....then again afternoon 2 hours of then again in the evening but im in the UK time zone. GMT. Also some week day evenings GMT. hope to see you out there.

Agreed! I was averse to ANYTHING multiplayer until I started playing EM. Once you start MPing you'll soon realize that you were getting really bored with the fact no matter how complex or
well programmed, AI will almost always be predictable. Unless as Maars would say - relatively speaking you are one who prefers predictability.

I wasn't specifically saying you Angitherias. I was more playing on Maars' favorite catch phrase "Relatively speaking"!

The great thing about MP is that pilots will for the most part "leave you to your own devices" if you make clear that's how you wish to play. Most of us try to avoid "spoilers" on the chat and only give details about how the game works and not what's contained within. Plus we make each other laugh very often!:)

Hi all,
Thanks for the many replies...I think it is a time zone thing...I'm upside down and over the rainbow down here in Oz. I'll try tonight and then be in VR for a few days (camping with the family in some simulation called "State Forest") ... as I'm back IRL I'll get back into the MP thing.
