Bounty/Rabbit/Wabbit Hunt

Post by Cindy »

I'd like to have a pilot hunt, with me as the 'bait'. I'm willing to pay a billion credits to any pilot who kills me. I was thinking of the 1st of January 2012 around 1500 EST. I would do it the 31st of December, but I wouldn't be able to get until late night EST.

If anyone has ideas on how the competition should be run, please post them. My idea is pretty much just an idea and I'm not very good with planning.

Edit: New rules
C1 class Fulcrum Jump Drive for target/bait
Metal in Cargo hold to be beamed up by anyone who wants a second prize and delivered to Sapphire station safely to be traded to me for prize of 500 million credits.
0, 0, 0 is no fire zone for that purpose, but until it is safely there watch your back! lol
No Prox. mines or FTs.
Target will start in Sapphire, hunters start in Atlas.

Pilot list (don't worry if you can't make it):
Marvin
Starbuck
Maarschalk
SeeJay
DaveK
KingArthur
MikeUK
Alfinete
Flash
and of course the bait: me. lol

Also, if your name isn't on the list, you are still welcome to join the hunt. :)

Hi Cindy,

I ran exactly such an event numerous times when I was still playing Freelancer. I always simply called it a 'Bounty Hunt'. They were always a blast and quite exciting, and so they were always quite crowded. I hope you can work up a nice crowd for yours as well.

The way I ran it was pretty straight forward - like you mentioned. There are a couple things that can save you a bit of work though:

- Keep another pilot (either in another ship flying with you in formation or in gun turret mode on your ship) by your side all the time to act as a judge. This ensures an objective ruling and prevents obscurities and discussions. Especially when several pilots catch up with you at the same time and a battle between the chasers ensues.
- Certainly in a vast universe like Evochron, you might want to let your co-pilot throw a hint around in the chat every now and then in regards to your location and/or the general direction you are heading in. In Freelancer it was hard enough to exactly pinpoint the target's location, and there the name of the system was listed on the chat list. In EM you only have coordinates, which will make things a lot more complicated, certainly for the people who are not really good with those.

- To expand on the hunt itself, I sometimes let the target carry a certain item in their cargo bay, which would be dropped into space after the target was killed. (One of) the chasers would have to beam it in and deliver it to a set location. You could use this in two ways: a) to create another 'hunt' (and some more fun) after the initial target has been killed, as the remaining players will now attempt to kill the player who is carrying the item, or 2) as a bonus feature to the event. In this case the player who kills the target will get rewarded, but the player who manages to deliver the item to its destination will also receive a reward.

Like I said, these events were always a LOT of fun, especially with a lot of players on. I'm pretty sure I won't be able to make it myself, but I wish you all the best with it and am looking forward to reading the reports!

Sounds like great fun and Vipers additional scenarios are also great.

One problem might be that the target (you) can easily avoid any hunter by
simply keep on jumping away all the time. Maybe need to "disable" jump ability
for the target?;)

Dear Cindy,

I would call this game Free Kill played in Saphire Station 0.0.0 (you cannot leave Saphire) area. Everybody who plays must save in the Sierra Warzone and race to Saphire Station 0.0.0. This way if you get blown up it takes you a while to get back.
Secondly, Every pilot playing must kill each pilot once to win.
The other pilots after flying back from Sierra Warzone can revenge their loss by destroying the pilot that killed them. Everybody after a kill must acknowledge the kill.
First pilot to kill each pilot playing wins.
You can't have a game and say first one to 5 wins because you may kill the same guy five times.
It can be one on one or all on one. But you have to kill everyplayer once. No Fulcrums or Proximity mines.

Load out and what ship you use is Pilots choice.
Or we could play in Atlas but everyone saves in Rucker or Pearls Hidden Planet.
This way it takes you a while to get back. You can fly with a gunner if you choose.
No time limit so if seven players are playing you must kill all seven in Saphire. But where it gets interesting is if your Cindy's 7th kill for the win, the other players could kill you sending you back to Rucker or wherever we want the home save planet to be.
If a player quits in a battle or self destructs or the server boots you: all the attackers involved count you as a kill. If seven players start but for some reason they have to leave and you need them as the winning kill then number 2 player has to be killed twice to win!!!!!!!! Voice communication is a must in Saphire to handle any issues.

I tested having a gunner or a ship flying in formation with me and there are two problems with doing that - at least on my end there would be. If I have another ship flying in formation with me I have to go under 1500 speed and no jumping. If I have a gunner I'm stuck in one sector. I'm not sure what discussions there might be, but I'm sure someone will think of something. lol

I agree with dropping a hint in the chat every now and then. Its a very good idea Viper - as is the item in the cargo hold.

Please not my jumping ability SeeJay! lol

The scenario sounds very interesting Star King, but it sounds to me more like another LMS than a hunt.

With my comments, I do want to say one more thing... it is a community event and if you all agree on something like no jumping for me or whatever, I will follow the rules that ya'll decide on. I just wanted another chase like I got when I first joined. After I got good at jumping and running, no one wanted to do it with me anymore. If you guys don't want to chase me across the universe, I understand. My billion credit prize will stand no matter what the rules - other than something like me stay still and you all shoot at me. :P I have said what I wanted to say and will now step aside and let someone else do the planning for the rules.

I hope for a great turnout.

:o It would be a very strange fox hunt where the hunters kill each other first. Not sporting. Bad form, eh what?

That would be a sitting duck hunt. Good for target practice but not for hunting wabbits!....;):P:P:P:P:P

LOL Cin!

I just pointed out that it would be vey hard to "catch" a target that can jump.
I'd say it's impossible to catch anyone that don't want to be catched.

Maybe downgrade to F-Drive Class 1?
Makes your jumping options much tighter!;)

 I did some testing this morning, and if you want me to I shall use a class 1 Jump Drive. ;) I'll just need a new escape route. :P Will add that the target will only use a C1 Fulcrum Jump Drive into the rules.

Now why do I have this strange feeling that I'm going to regret agreeing to this? :P:P

About how many people plan on being there?

I'll try to be there Cin.

You set up your ship/make rules as you see fit. It's your event!;)

I just pointed out that the race/hunt will never end if you can jump 10 sectors in any direction.
That makes a lot of sectors to guess from if the hunter wants to intercept you!;)

 A Class 1 drive doesn't always operate as advertised ... set a waypoint about ten sectors away and test it. Sometimes you just go in circles. I suggest at least a Class 2. And be careful which systems you run to ... two or three pilots can join forces and block any quick exit out of the system. At that point, using autopilot with a Class 1 ... well, who knows.

Guys you damage a guy and you can't warp. Basically Cindy, Rubber Chicken and I have playing this unofficially and having a blast.
Lets just try to play it and see how it goes. Lets not make it like last man standing. Once the game starts you have kill each person once. If a person joins late the original seven players just have to kill six but the new player has to kill seven.
This should be fun with as little limits (no fulcrums or prox mines) as possible.
Only one station for refueling and repairs forcing continuous battles and cleverness.
Who ever wins God Bless them! It's fun!!!!! No one cares who wins!

I do not do it everyday Dingo... just 89.35% of the time! That still leaves 10.65% of no running/jumping time... ;):P:P:P

Sky King,

You can't warp only if someone damages your engines/speed systems. I know because I've been at 12% hull and still be jumping.

You have some good ideas that I see when reading the forum. :)

Will you be at the Bounty/Rabbit/Wabbit Hunt?

A couple of thoughts;

What about those of us for whom it would be a red letter day to kill one of you once? :D

Can you really keep track of, say, seven pilots who would have to make 7 kills each before they could start chasing Cindy? What happens with "uber jock" who is just too hard to kill?

What happens when the first pilot gets his/her seven kills and then starts the Cindy Hunt? How do the ones who need to kill him/her then do that? We could have a trail of A hunting Cindy, B hunting A who is hunting Cindy, C who is hunting B who is hunting A who is hunting Cindy . . . :P Cindy would look like the Pied Piper (not literally - I am sure her clothes sense is much better than a funny hat, medieval suit, turned up shoes, dancing along playing a pipe!) :P :P :P

. . . at least I hope it is :P
