It's like the floating "Hallelujah Mountains" on the moon Pandora (orbiting the planet Polyphemus in Alpha Centauri system) in the film Avatar . . . but before the forests got established!
The mountains float because of very very strong magnetic fields in the area, presumably due the the room tempertaure superconducting mineral "Unobtanium"
