Dead Zone settings

Post by 49rTbird »

Would it be possible to get the Zones reduced in distance effectiveness? What I mean is that at setting "1" my stick dead zone is big and at 0 I have unwanted movement. I am wondering if there could be a setting of ".5" in between the ones we have now so the it would be : 0 , .5 , 1 , 1.5 , 2 , 2.5 and so on. Just wondering.:)

This depends on the joystick if it is analog or digital and its sensitivity to input and output. Some can not handle .5 or some can only be adjusted incrementaly by 1, 2, 4, 8 for example..;)

Hi Maars, I meant the settings provided in game. If that could be changed. If so and a controller was able to use it then it would help fine tune the stick control. My X52 has it's own but I am not smart enough to get it to work:D.:(

Yes, you can use 'in between' values for the deadzone by editing the configuration file manually. To do this, open the sw.cfg file located in the save data folder with notepad and edit line 12. If you have the deadzone set to 1, this value will be 100. You can change that value to anything in between, so if you want to try a value of 0.5 in-game, change the 100 to 50.

OK, I see the sw.cfg shows 0 at this time as my game is set to dead zone 0. I assume this line will change to 100 if I pick the game dead zone of 1. If I change the 100 to 50 on line 12, will the game change that back if I pick another setting within the game such as 2 or 3?

Never mind, I answered my own question by trying it. Any change in the selection in game changes the sw.cfg file so I will need to change it prior to running the game and test it each time.

As a further update for those who might try the above, I set line 12 to "20" and that seems to work well with my X52 so far. My results have been sporadic in the past so I may have other issues.:o:(
