Somehow I shut it off in combat and my precision slider will not work also. I'm in mode 1, and there is a message above my profile saying: "wheel scroll dow...".

It is difficult to say without knowing your setup!
1. What function have you asigned to the Siatek X52 Mouse on the throtle stick?
2. Are you using a Saitek software profile?
3. What did you asign the precision slide to do?
4. What did you asign the scroll wheel on the throtle stick to do?
Many times if you have programmed certain buttons or controls on your joystick and you go into chat or back to desktop the controller keeps sending a signal if one of your Saitek X52 buttons or controls is active and sending a continues command and this will freeze your controller! My guess is that the scroller wheel on your saitek is sending the signal "wheel scroll down", if this is the case just center the scroll wheel by turning it up till it stops sending the signal.....Hope this helps....

My precision slider is set same as yours, I ended buying the x52 for a REALLY great price. I'm convinced now that I have a virus because other thins are being funky with my computer.

I use the Saitek profile software and have the precision slide set to 3 bands 0-40%=Forward inertial thrusters, 40-60%=inertial thrusters off and 60-100%=reverse inertial thrusters and the deadzone for precision slide also set to 40-60% ratio....From post: 120436, Topic: tid=8184, author=Angitherias wrote:My precision slider is set same as yours, I ended buying the x52 for a REALLY great price. The mouse wheel on the throttle controller is not bound to anything. I loaded up my EM controller profile, then used the scroll button, but it gets stuck "down" and I don't mean physically. If I scroll up the value on the MFD does not change and certain buttons such as the precision slider don't work. It's not like any open window I have keeps scrolling down either when this happens, the throttle mouse doesnt work.

Sounds like you have conflict of Keyboard Keys and Joystick assignment keys. Check the in game Key assignments. I have the mouse on the throttle stick asigned as a multifuctioning 4 way hat and use a regular mouse for in console selection and scrolling and navigation points selection. So if you have a regular mouse and the Throttle mouse both as mouse there could be a conflict. You can test what keys get triggered on your X52 by going in to the profile editor select "view" select from drop down "grid" top right corner then click on the "Test Profile" icon top right corner it looks like the tool icon and there you can see wich keys get activated when you use the wheel scroll or press any button on the joystick......
Also make sure that you have set the wheel scroll up and wheel scroll down functions in the profile editor to do nothing from the list of commands and see if this resolves the conflict. If it does then something else is assigned the same Keys as the wheel scroll. Same with the slider, if there are conflicts with Key assignment for the slider than the slider will not work either!

I was wondering about that, I wasn't sure how to disable the mouse scroll wheel on the throttle. I run the game in a window, so I do like using my regular mouse to do other stuff while playing. Which driver version do you run with your x52?
Edit: i was running the drivers that came with the disk (dated 2005), I've since uninstalled them and put on version 6.0.4.1 dated 01/05/2007. I've noticed the control panel is different too, I hope the conflicts go away.

I use driver version 6.0.4.1 for my X52. And version 6.6.6.9 for the profile editor software!
With this driver version 6.0.4.1 you can enable and disable the clutch button as well so you can asign regular keys to it in stead of using it as a clutch!....

That one doesn't load, I get a "smart technology.exe has encountered a problem and windows has to close it" message.

I'm dual booting with Windows XP professional 32 bit and Windows 7 Professional 64 bit. I had the SST software installed on the Windows XP and when I installed Windows 7 I do not recall having to do anything with the SST Program to have it work in Windows 7, It automatically worked!.....But I remmember that is was very tricky to get the SST version 6.6.6.9 downloaded from Saiteks Website at the time and get it to work. I had to uninstall it and reinstall it several times before I got it to work!.....I do not know if they still have this version for download from their web site!.....From post: 120498, Topic: tid=8184, author=Angitherias wrote:I'm using win xp home 32bit, which version of windows are you using? You might be able to browse the web for this particular version from an alternate download site!;)From post: 120522, Topic: tid=8184, author=Angitherias wrote:Only the latest one is available. Saitek forum registration is closed, I can't even ask them for help.
Are you sure you downloaded the proper latest one from Saiteks website? Browse to choose product second box and select Joystick then select X52 Flight Controller, then select your Windows version from the list. You have to uninstall the previous one then restart the computer and then download the correct version and reinstall the correct version. It might be also that your old driver is not compatible with the latest SST version! Did you try to update the driver to to the latest?

Pick S, then Satek drivers, Joystick drivers, X52 drivers, and it should show you about 10 different ones for different windows versions and dates. I say a 32bit one dated 2010.

From what I've read on the web, basically software developers don't really give great support for obsolete operating systems so.... I'm not saying I blame the software/developers for my troubles, it just irks me that my settings were working, then they weren't. Great links "thetiebers", I'll be sure to check them out.

I've come to the conclusion that the SST software is the cause of my troubles, not the x52 drivers. Until I find a solution I'll have to live without it.
:(:(
