I picked up a wing man a day or two ago, who has now gone AWOL. I am unable to find him/her, or dismiss. Any thoughts?

They get destroyed and some get scared after heavy combat or go missing in action and some take your money and run....

Sounds reasonable. Problem is I still show Fleet : 1, and am unable to clear that. I also seem to be unable to get another wingman. Is fleet maxxed at 1 for a low rank civilian?
I am having a blast so far.

What kind of jumpdrive do you have. If you have a mantis your wingman with a class 1 jumpdrive will have a hard time catching up with you. If you wait long enough he might show up in a year or 2 depending how far you have travelled with your mantis jumpdrive. A 1000 jumps with a Mantis is 10000 sectors at about 15 seconds per jump that is for you 15000 seconds/60=250 minutes=4.1666 hours. Now for your wingman that is 10000 jumps at 15 seconds each that equals 150000 seconds/60=2500 minutes=41.6666 hours to catch up with you! That is if he can find you.....He is probably lost and having a drink at the Station I don't Remember!.......Or he can be waiting for you one sector from the last location he was still there since you hired him!....Good luck finding him! for now I would say he is MIA!......Only one who can fix it is Vice!...email your affected profile to him!.....

I don't know enough about the mechanics of the game to know if you are having fun with the new guy or not...lol.
I have stayed in the same sector for the most part, even using the same station for 5 or 6 hours, and also revisited other local stations looking for him. Given some of the ultra-realistic scenarios in the game, I suppose I could have out-distanced him with the Mantis drive. If he doesn't show up soon, I will contact Vice about putting an APB out for him, or hiring a lawyer to officially cancel our contract!
Much thanks,
Valkyrie

A little bit of both.....From post: 119349, Topic: tid=8129, author=Parrish wrote:I don't know enough about the mechanics of the game to know if you are having fun with the new guy or not...lol.
You can also try to accept a combat contract in the sector where you hired him/her and issue an attack enemy command and see which green ship attacks the red ones and that is probably your wingman. Now to cancel or to dismiss him/her you have to target him/her and be in targetting range!....From post: 119349, Topic: tid=8129, author=Parrish wrote: I have stayed in the same sector for the most part, even using the same station for 5 or 6 hours, and also revisited other local stations looking for him. Well, I still haven't tracked him down, but should I find him..pretty sure he won't live to do this to some other pilot.

The wingmen always blame that on their inadequate jumpdrive......
