[EM] Graphic Issues: White boxes covering planets *FIXED*

Post by Mearcat »

As the title suggests, I'm currently viewing the planets as big white blocks instead of how they are meant to look.

The planets themselves are there and only appear as you approach to enter the atmosphere to dock at one of the cities.

Also in the 3rd person view there is a white plain that seams to be encompassing the ship.

System info is as follows:

Asus M2n32D motherboard
AMD 64X2 3.8Ghz (yeah I know old school stuff now)

4GB Ram
Twin Asus NVidia GTX550 Ti DirectCU 1gb (brand new with current 266.71 drivers)
Windows XP 32 SP3 with DirectX 9.0c
Demo version of Legends 1.288

I have tried all the usual changes to graphic detail and texture quality to no avail and would greatly appreciate any help as it is extremely difficult to judge where the planets are (though you can't miss a big white box in the blackness of space:)) and keep crashing into the atmosphere before I’ve emerged from the jump tube.

I have been looking for this standard of space sim since Freelancer and X3 TC! and if any of you can help with this graphic issue I will be getting the full game!

Please help :)

welcome meercat. Have you tried downloading and reinstalling? Maybe the latest test build from the Evochron main forum? I had that problem once and I think that is what fixed it for me.

Ok, uninstalling legends didn't work, ended up causing a 191 error when it tried to optimise the resolution.

So did as you suggested & found the 1.470 and downloaded it. I was looking in the wrong part of the forum (Doh!)

This now works beautifully and the planets look better aswell. Vice & co has done some great work on this. I have noticed that in the Nav map when filtering the objects through from planets - stations - jumpgates, the map is showing the previous objects aka: set to stations - it shows the planets, set to jumpgates - it shows the stations. Minor problem that can be easily fixed.

will be showing the demo to me bros on gaming night this Friday and see if they agree with it being one of the best space-sims yet and to get the full game.

Thanks for the help Dingo & Flash.

That is how it is designed to function. Here is an explanation from a previous discussion on the new 'click-to' button functionality:

The category buttons on the Nav map now use the 'click-to' method that other buttons use. That is, you click on the button to access what it displays. In Legends, there was a mix of this, where some buttons displayed what was active while others displayed what to click-to. By request, all buttons now use the 'click-to' presentation, so to access 'All', you'd click on 'All' to see it, rather than clicking on something like 'Planets' to see all text.

Hi Mearcat, welcome to the game and forum. Are you talking about Evochron Legends or Mercenary? Mercenary latest version is 1.470. Legends latest Version was 1.288.

I guess you downloaded the demo of the latest newest game Mercenary version 1.470.....;):P
