How to warp close to Station?

Post by Urabus »

Hi Everyone!

Just bought the game and I'm very excited by what I see and read.

Unfortunately, I've already run into a few frustrating issues I could use help with.

1. When I select the station in the NAV window and hit F2 my ship was destroyed. Obviously, I warped too close to the station. However, when I select a point that seems close to the station, it takes me 5 minutes to dock unless I use TAB and burn up too much of my fuel.

Q: Is there an easy way to warp close to the station?

OR... Is there a way to use autopilot to dock?

2. I cleaned every solar panel for noob contract, flew back to station but it did not allow me to complete contract. There was only a Cancel button. So I flew back out and checked both sides of panel but all were clean. Is this contract broken or am I doing something wrong. (Would be nice if this contact Auto-Completed when done.)

Thanks to anyone who can help with either or both issues.

Happy Hunting!

Urabus, to warp into a station, open up the nav map and right click on the station to select it. Make sure your ship is level and pointed at 0 degrees ( not necessary but helps me) then jump and you should be aimed at the station docking ring. Sometimes you are aways out but still aimed at it. Welcome to the forum and the Sim. Have fun and hope to see you out there sometime.:)

 Also, when jumping to a trade station, engage inertial and you will glide right in. If it's a constructor station, you need to align your ship to a cardinal heading ... be careful, though, as constructors can be dangerous if you're off just a bit. When jumping to a carrier, turn your ship to a heading of 180.

 When cleaning solar panels, you will automatically get a "contract completed" message once the panels are completely clean ... no need to return to the station. But a partially clean panel might look clean ... but isn't.

Thanks to all who answered.

Docking much easier now.

Also, solar panels worked the 2nd time.

As you suggested, must have looked clean but wasn't first time around.

Great game, enjoying it much.

Happy Hunting!

what I do is clicking on the destination, note down the coordinates, and then write them manually adding 1000 to the Y, which gives room to change direction

have to try the right click method again, last time I did it on a planet didn't work so well :)

Welcome Lhetre.

You can't jump to a planet. You'll burn up or smash into it.
You can't jump while in atmosphere either (Jump from a planet).

Right Click only objects in space, not planetary, when you want to jump.
