Some help needed.

I am pretty much new to this game, only having downloaded the demo last week and actually bought the game yesterday. One of my biggest problems were not dealing with the inertia, but dealing with 4 enemies shooting missiles at you, while you dodge those missiles and attempt to shoot them down.

I have no problem with inertia at all since I used to play this indie, open source game called vegastrike. Not elaborating more than that, but the inertia system used in that game is similar to the one used in evochron: mercenary.

I need some tips and tricks as to how I can effectively take down *that* many enemies at once, while protecting a battleship while it charges it's drives up to activate it's jumpdrive. I tried this mission (it's an IMG contract, the 2nd one after you to go the next system) for the 5th time, and for all 5 times, the battleship exploded.

And also, I also need some information as to where I can get military issue frames, since I desperately need one that's fast, and has moderate armor. My current one is using the arrow frame, and has a speed of 671. But I really need a faster one. I find that I'm not getting any closer to the enemies without first overshooting them by turning off IDS, afterburning to 2000, then fly past them since I can't brake that fast. But if I travel at 671 velocity, the ships don't even seem to be getting any closer at all.

TL;DR:
Tips and tricks for combat, what weapons to use.
Where to get a military issue frame.

Just a side note - it takes me forever to get from 2000m (let's take that as the unit in the game) to 750m where I can fire my weapon. Plus countermeasures aren't helping against missiles. I do know that you can shoot missiles down. But when 6 comes at you, there's really nothing much you can do about that.

Hello parkel, welcome to the forum and the Sim. The quest takes you through most of the functions in the Sim and is a good training tool plus you get goodies. Some missions work better with help so you can either go on-line into MP and ask for help or you can hire AI pilots to help on missions like protecting the battleships. The Military frames are in the war zones like Talison at the Military carriers. To get ships you can get is based on your military rank so the higher your rank the better ship you can get. You can use a Civie ship to do military missions and a lot of us do. I don't use the engine during battle, I use IDS off/on and the afterburner to control my speed. You can't go head to head with a bunch at a time so get them to follow you and try to pick them off one at a time when possible. Good luck and as I said hop on MP and we can help more.:)

On page 3 in the settings you will find 2 lines regarding IDS multiplier, increase and decrease.
Set 2 keys for this option, then you can multiply your IDS from x1 to x5 and this will give you enough speed to intercept foes. (Be careful however not to overshoot)

As for CM's not working, you need to drop them at the right time, you cannot use afterburners or IDS mode flight while trying to fool a missile with CM's.
I strafe left or right in Inert mode and use 1 CM per incomming missile to evade em, and the ones I can shoot I shoot.

With a mix of IDS to close in and Inert strafing while gunning down the enemy you can win battles against the AI with ease.
When you got that under control you can win a 4 vs 1 fight with ease and with some practice a 10 vs 1 fight as well.

If you want to explore the military frames I would urge you to install the 1.252 test build with the huge military ship buff or else you will be very dissapointed with them.
On a side note, in order to get access to the good military ships you need military rank, and in order to get military rank you need to run contracts in the various warzones.

So you are best off in a civilian ship for now and either gain military rank to get a nice military ship or complete the IMG and get access to the Starmaster. (Although when I flew civilian ships I prefered a Mammoth over a Starmaster, but then everyone has different preferences)

If you need more insight into combat you can indeed head to Remula One online server and ask for combat tips/training there, I am sure someone will be happy to help you out.

When you have a lot of missiles coming at you hit reverse thrust "/" and your afterburner, with IDS on. That gives you more time to shoot down the incoming missiles and pick off the attacking reds.

Hi Parkel, welcome to the game and forum. Join multiplay and there are plenty of players willing to help you with contracts and show you the ropes. Escort missions can be done alone by very experienced pilots or unless your very lucky it is possible as a newcomer. But escort missions are mostly intended as coop missions. So hire a fleet to help or join multiplay online....;)
