This seems like the best forum board to do this as 90% of the software I'll post here has Something to do with the games.
Like mod tools etc that I write and post up on the net, though there is also a music player but that's relevant because it's very small, which is good to listen to while playing the games - saves frame rates
Comitis version 1.0
This is a companion program for Evochron Mercenary which you can find out more information about here
Musica
Small memory footprint Music file player which you can find information/download about here
EDIT: 07:46am-gmt - 12/02/2011
Just tidied a few things up and changed the icon - AGAIN! lol. I messed up a couple of things on the randomiser which does it's job in three places and I wasn't keeping track on the ones I needed to keep track of - i am now. About box Image has also been changed and I've now got a good twenty differing stations on the radio guide. I don't intend to go mental on that, if anyone finds any good ones that work well please do u2u them to me with the addie.
Forgot one other thing, you can right click the tray icon while proggie is minimised to the tray to play/pause.
You might want to rename your .pls files to .mpls though it's not vital as I've added support for actual WinAmp pls and M3U files to the player now. It likes to use it's own .mpls format for ease of use but it can understand those types as well now. Ofr those of you that don't want to rename you should still be able to load the old pls format successfully.
Added click action to logo image on RadioGuide, it will attempt to download and install the latest RadioGuide file to the installation directory. Obviously added an internet version of the file for capture.
General Tiding up again, some error catching and making sure things load from the right directories.
EDIT: 13:18 - gmt
Added ID3 Tag support to ogg and mp3 files including album cover art if there is any
Added Some error catching, though most are handled long before that point, this way the application will exit nicely if there is an error. (I hope)
Added VUMeter type thingy display gadgety-bob next to info display for playing track, the VUMeter even works on streams.
Animated TrayIcon also shows if playing or not with animated VUMeter.
15:15 - gmt
Added another mode, now can click on the VUMeter and change to dotty look, this also updates the TrayIcon
Siege ... you've gone mad. I'll be testing your latest incarnation on my "chat and surf" computer. If it works here, it'll surely work on the game machine. Especially since this is an older computer with a whole lot of different music formats.
I sure have, just knocking together a forum based site to host all the applications I want to make. Figured the forum paradigm would suite it best, it was either that or a blog and I'm not a great fan of blogs. This way I can edit content anywhere without going anywhere near a HTML editor - yay!
Done on the updates to Musica for a while though, I've not been to sleep yet and my brain is past programming stage lol. The version linked on the new website is the latest and even has a slight optimization to cut down on the cpu usage. Other updates you will find there, I'm clogging up Vice's board here, I'll just link to new stuff as it comes out but for updates they'll be on my own site :-
Glad to have someone testing out and using the software I create actually, sometimes I knock out utils and applications and it feels like no one is using them, no matter how good or bad they might be. So keep up the feedback mate, it's quite likely that if you want a feature and I'm able it'll go in.
BTW this app uses about 2mb LESS memory than the old TinyMP3 application if you can believe it. That's including when it's streaming straight off the internet.
Just downloaded the latest version from your website. Took a wild guess as to the link for the DL and got it right. I did appreciate the screenshots of how the player looks. Thanks.
No worries, it's an ugly little critter but I'm no graphic designer lol. I made most of the graphics myself as you can no doubt tell. Though I got parts of them from an icon set, which helped the overall look lol.
A quick plug here really. I urge you to check out http://www.siegenet.co.uk and see what I'm offering, they'll be more updates there than here because I'm very conscious that this isn't my board lol. So I've set up something to really keep you all up to date. Register and express an opinion if you like, or just browse as a guest. Only posting requires membership.
A few problems with the latest version. It still plays MP3s, no problem but ...
If you clear the entire playlist, it still plays whatever was cued up. The cued song doesn't show up on the list anymore ... it just gets played.
When you go to add a file, everything shows up in the selection window ... even *.mov and *.mid files.
Clicking on the Play button also advances to the next selection. But, sometimes, the highligted selection shows in the Now Playing window (and sometimes it doesn't).
I could only get one *.wav to play ... and that was when I piggybacked it onto an *.mp3 file.
- That also is expected behavior as it supports quite a lot of file formats now, though it does NOT support MOV files and I just did a little test and my .mov file did not show up. It does support MIDI files, but they play silent for the most part for some reason I just can't fix, I don't advertise the fact it can play midi for that reason, it's still in there but it's virtually ignored. The progress bar moves nicely but the sound doesn't come out for some reason. This I think is a problem with the dll and nothing i can do about that.
- clicking on the play button will only select a file on first press, after that it acts like a play button does on any player. That might be because there is no ID3 tag on your file, i will try to put in some sort of default behavior for this occurrence thanks.
- That's worrying, could you perhaps zip one of the non working files up and send it to me, preferably a small one. The wav files I tried all worked.
I just tried with a combination list and a wav only list and it worked fine, this is very strange. It could be there is something wrong with the wav files themselves. Some players are more forgiving than others. If you bung one at me, I'll pm you my addie, we'll check it on a variety of players.
Yup, the problem was with the *.wav files. I used sound recorder to create a test *.wav and it worked just fine. I then cut the test file down to 8 khz mono and it still worked. Taking a shot in the dark, I tried out one of the funky wave files on the Windows player and got an error code ... so, the problem was with the file (a whole folder full of files, actually).
But, while doing all this checking, I found a nice, fat folder from Orbiter ... full of MP3 music. Did a "Ctrl A" and dragged the entire set into your player. And I'm listening to it now ... no problem at all (even though the files are linked across WinXP onto another HD (Win98 SE).
Okay, being that I'm me and a little daft at times I didn't put the software that I am developing with all the other software that I have developed over the years on the dedicated site that I have for it. I have rectified that and placed both Comitis and Musica where they belong over on Lucifael.co.uk This site has a much wider selection of software as well as a dedicated phpbb forum and blog with which you can keep up to date of the goings on of the software and site. It really is a much better platform and I should have done it in the first place and frankly I'm not sure why I didn't. There is a redirect in place on the old SiegeNet.co.uk address now that will take you directly to the updated Lucifael.co.uk address so you don't have to update your book marks yet lol.
Hopefully this will all make much more sense and yes I also go by lucifael have done for a while, it's sort of the badge I use for software design etc. I'll update my sig with the new address also. Shortly coming to the site will be Version 2 Of Musica and ofc Comitis Version 2 as well. Please go and join up on the board etc if you want but the site has all the information you need for actually using the software. I'm still in the process of shifting across some of the information I had on SiegeNEt so bear with me on that one, but it will all be there shortly.
Sorry for the confusing aspect of the move, but it's much more organised this way honest
I downloaded Orbiter hoping for a new host of mp3's to play but it didn't come with any, is it an extra download and if so do you know where to look for it? I'm always on the look out for new music for flying to.

Whoa ... I last visited the Orbiter website about a month ago. And now there's a whole new setup. Thanks for noticing it. And, btw, most of the sound mods come from a guy named Dan, at:
No big changes except in the website and a link to some MP hosting site ... which, it seems, has finally gotten off the ground. And I did finally download the terrain-generation programs that've been floating around for awhile ... just to see if I can get one of them to work.
