Hello itlivz, I doubt if there will EVER be a save editor that will let a player add wealth or equipment. This is not that type game. Most SP carries over to MP so restrictions must be in place. Welcome to the forum and the Sim.:)

Even following the quest i still forget to save and lose everything, no memory editing tactic i have tried has worked, My ship explodes the second the value is changed. Although you can add 1 to to you money, its useless unless you save after and repeat, which is still pointless. i just want to play the way that doesn't frustrate the hell out of me. Any help or advice would be welcomed.

Save often. The way the game is designed is to prevent cheating, which is what you
descriped with adding money to your profile. Mine, save, trade, save, sell stuff, save
and repeat until you're satisfied.;)

Coming online and joining a clan may also help as you earn a little money just by being online then depending on your clans holdings. I was most surprised to find that out I can tell you! Either way welcome to the game

Just adding my two cents as I often do. I think it would have a fairly negative impact on this game if a save editor was made and introduced considering the single player profiles can be carried over to multiplayer. Similar to Diablo 2's open multiplayer games where it was absolutely rife with "cheaters" and people that simply edited their saves to a point where it made the rules of the game completely and utterly non-existant.

I know you mainly want it for money but what you're describing is either an editor or trainer. Either way the end result would go far beyond just money editing. It would potentially give you the ability to edit things that should not be editable and thus could make you quite overpowered in multiplayer. For example there's a limit of missiles that you can carry yet with an editor you could potentially give yourself much much more. Same with everything else. While I trust Vice has put in checks to stop it... I can't imagine he would have had great reason to employ excessive checks.

All I can really advise is that you use the alt-f9 shortcut or rebind it to something you are more comfortable with and basically save everytime you've completed anything. I know you have probably tried but if your logic is you'd rather have an editor than simply learn to save more frequently then you're looking for an extremely lazy way out.

That being said I really wish Vice would implement an "auto-save" that could be toggled both on the client-side and potentially locked on server-side if someone wanted to actually include a risk oriented server where you couldn't simply revert your save whenever something happened that you didn't want.

An Auto Save function you could turn on or off would be a cool addition. But I think it would only work for completing succesfull missions or contracts. A timed auto save could be problematic since you could get stuck in a saved destruction. So the Auto Save function when turned on has to Occur at certain significant moments dependent on an ingame notification or action of benefit to the player.....;)

 If you want auto-save ... spend all your time building stations. Or talk Vice into creating a checklist where you tick boxes listing a selection of different auto-save options.

I do find alt+F9 is my new best friend these days I must admit. Having an autosave wouldn't hurt either, but potentially it would be tricky to implement other than the way it already is, building stations, trading etc etc.

Also using a trainer on this game may actually go against the license and thus you don't want to be doing it. Full stop.

To solve your problem you have to send your PilotX.sw pilot profile File to Vice to put you in a different safe location. He is the only one who can do that to prevent cheating. If players could hack there profile then hey they could make them self appear any where in the Universe! the X will be the number of your Pilot Profile you have a problem with X=0 is the Pilot Profile in the first slot of your Pilot Manager. So subtract 1 from your Pilot Profile manager to find the Profile file in your Games installation folder! and send it in an e-mail to Vice explaining your problem!....;)

Money really isn't that difficult to make in this game, so a SP editor is redundant.

I understand the reason for there being no trainer but it's hard to make lots of money in the beginning, excruciatingly slow when mining and the contracts are very low paying between 5,000 and 25,000 credits usually. It gets kind of repetitive when trying to raise money. takes me about a day to get 400,000 credits through mining and a few contracts, I dunno if that's normal but I would love for someone to give a list of ways to make money a tad more exciting than sitting in front of an asteroid.

I love this game, one of the few great spacesims ever made and visually stunning but it's a bit slow.

also is there a way to join the military or pursue other careers?:D

Buy low, sell high. Be a weapons dealer. Become an equipment vender ... trucker ... shipping mogul. Find the best bargains and the highest economies to sell at.

A little research and business knowhow and you'll figure out how to increase your daily profits .... significantly.

Also, if you have a license at a station
you'll get a discount buying stuff.

Hint.
You'll get a license if you build a station.

 Join a clan and you'll get paid for each territory owned by that clan. Or join a veteran who is doing contracts ... let the vet take the contracts (high rank gets higher pay).

Trade your civ ship in for a mil frame, if you've a desire to join the Navy. Conduct combat operations in Conflict Zones and War Zones. Work your way up to at least Commodore rank; that way, you can order about the Navy AI pilots whether or not you're the principle pilot on co-ops. Or be a Miner/Trader - mine everything possible from asteroids, nebulae, planets/planetary rings, and star coronas. Operate/employ a TW on planetary surfaces. Perform lots of differing contracts. Explore the markets. Find that sweet trade run - the one that nets you the BIG BUCKS. Once you attain Legend status, you'll never again pay docking/trade fees, anywhere. Or be a Racer. Works a lot better in SP-space, but other pilots can be challenged in MP-space as well. Or just be a Mercenary - do a little or a lot of what strikes your fancy. One of the real beauties of this game is that you're not lead around by the nose. You have a lot of freedom to choose your own course thru the game environment. :)

A save game editor in EM? For me, a clear No!
In some older arcade games it may be interesting looking what happens in level 15 which I was never able to reach, but in EM, if you were given any ship or a cash of 15000K to start with, you would still have to accomplish the same things to make it enjoyable. So there's no point for any editor or cheats.
Also it would make quetionable all the nice hint docs already published by people going very deeply in the game, and I wouldn't feel good about it :(

Anyway: what really does for me, is the Autosave :P

The only way I could see having a save editor is if the pilot files were saved server side. Seeing as they are saved client side, such a utility would invite massive cheating.

Not what you want to hear, I'm sure, but the base programming mechanics of the game prohibit it.
