Move hud readouts in Mercenary

Post by 49rTbird »

Anyone remember how to move things like the Center hud radar indicator and the 3d globe with it? I want to move it all down a bit but don't remember from Legends what file I need to mode and what numbers in that file do what. Help please.:)

Create a new folder in your Mercenary root folder called HUD. Next create a text file called gauges.txt and place it in the HUD folder. The next bit is from the customizing kit and tells you what goes in the gauges.txt file:
gauges.txt = 1st value sets the left display's vertical position, default is 0.0
2nd value sets the left display's horizontal position, default is 0.0
3rd value sets the left display's rotation angle, default is 20
4th value sets the center display's vertical position, default is 0.0
5th value sets the center display's horizontal position, default is 0.0
6th value sets the center display's rotation angle, default is 0
7th value sets the right display's vertical position, default is 0.0
8th value sets the right display's horizontal position, default is 0.0
9th value sets the right display's rotation angle, default is 20
10th value sets the target object's vertical position, default is 1.98
11th value sets the target object's horizontal position, default is 2.77
12th value sets the 3D radar sphere's vertical position, default is 0.0
13th value sets the 3D radar sphere's horizontal position, default is 0.0
14th value set the left display's distance, default is 0.0
15th value set the center display's distance, default is 0.0
16th value set the right display's distance, default is 0.0
17th value set the target object's distance, default is 0.0
18th value set the 3D radar sphere's distance, default is 0.0
The values you will want to change are those associated with the 3D radar sphere.

I tried to modify the color of the chattext last night. According to the ReadMe in the CustomKit for Mercenary,
you're supposed to create a chattext.dat file and install it in the hud-folder.

I have the hudfolder already for the hudtext.dat mod that works.
I installed chattext.dat with the following data:
150
100
70
10
40

This didn't change anything. I didn't reboot my computer so if thats needed, I'll find out tonight.

Any suggestions to what I'm doing wrong?

I just got some heads up from Marvin that my file might not be a .dat even
if I thought that was what I created. I'll check that tonight. Thx Marvin;)

I think you have to use notepad to create .dat files......at least I have not used any other like Word or wordpad....etc....;)

Instead of moving the display I erased the top of it so the zoomed map shows better.:)

 I can never get Notepad or Wordpad to save as a data file ... so I just clone another data file, rename the clone, delete what's in it and write what I want. Then save it again and it stays a data file ... but with my data.

Yes ofcourse it works fine. I was just explaining how to use notepad to make a .dat file since Marvin could not use Notepad to make a .dat file by saving as.;)

:o I tried re-naming the "chattext" file that originally had been saved as "chattext.txt" ... it came out "chattext.dat.txt" ... so I went back to what works for me.

This looks like what win7 does. Do you use 7 Marv?

I used Win7 for about ten minutes when I first booted up the "super computer" my son built for me. After the ten minutes, I gave him the computer. It was either that or take a Louisville Slugger to it. (WinXP forever!)

As far as I am aware, all versions of Windows do this by default and it is a complete pain in the ***. If you want to change it go into Folder Options, click the View tab, and deselect "Hide extensions for known file types"

Make sure when you "Save As" in notepad you change the "Save as filetype" to "All Files" then you can save using any extension you want.

Image Tried that. It still didn't work. Tried the "show file extension" thing too.
