Thank you Eclipse. Not everyone is as fortunate as Remula One.

Not going anywhere till I see a server available for all. And not just a few elite.

I'm not sure I understand your position, shilo. do you mean that Remula One is only for an "Elite few"?
It is open to all players and is free.
Or do you mean that Remula One itself is elite?
Do you have some particular reason for not wanting to use Remula One?
I know it can't be personal, because we don't even know each other.
I have know idea why or if Vice has not posted the site for the server program,
but you can always host your own game anytime you want from the game multiplayer menu.

You might want to explain your comment as MM runs the Remula one server that is open to all. Do you mean the server program and not the server?

I mean the server program that was made available to all when I purchased the game, but was pulled because its being worked on. Yet still is being given to a few people to run public servers.

And I am a little frustrated that there are two public servers on-line yet we still have no access or ability to run our own.

That is my gripe. Nothing else. So I will sit in the shadows and wait till Vice gets done doing what he is doing. But given this cursed holiday season I doubt we shall see anything viable till the new year.

My simple gripe is the fact that only two peeps have access. If the server was pulled it should have stayed pulled for everyone.

But only Vice has the answers. And he ain't talking.

When the server was pulled the message was worded as such that one would think after leaving your code and an email, access would be given. But all I was told was to use the old one which only works on closed lan play. The minute you attempt to connect to the net it shuts off.

So what was the point of having to go through that wait a few days to be told nothing?

The game client can be used to host a multiplayer session, so anyone with the game can host a session for a few friends.
The dedicated server program requires graphics hardware not usually available on game hosting machines for rent. Have you tried emailing Vice about the program?
I went through the routine of sending my code and was told to use the old one. Which is no good for Online play. I am fully aware that I can host my own using the game itself. But it does not behave in the same manner as the server.

I simply wish to play in my own universe using my game computer and a dedicated server. That way stations etc are saved. And I can putz around with the universe.

No the old server does not work at all. When you select connect it says version is outdated and exits to windows.

So I don't even have access to the Japan server software.

Guess I should have grabbed what I could when it was up.

I think voice chat could have been left out to begin with so that more people could actually play on the server. With vent and other voice chats out there. But it is a nice touch.

Guess I just got here at the wrong time is all.

MMaggio's server usually runs the latest "test" build of the game. When the bugs are worked out, Vice makes it the official release. Your problem might be in that test releases of the game (client side) usually coincide with the test server.

Vice works holidays. Vice works weekends. He works nights, days and probably dreams about the game in his sleep. He has a dozen players (including me) asking for new goodies to be incorporated in the game.

So, hang in there. If you've installed the latest test release of the game, the applicable server will be released as soon as possible. Compared to other Indy Dev's, Vice works at warp 10.
