I'd posted earlier about an issue I'd been having (I wasn't sure whether it was an ID-10-T error (one of those disconnects between the keyboard and the chair) or a legitimate bug/technical issue. It seems likely to be the former.... so not wanting to break forum rules and hijack my earlier post, I was wondering whether there might be an easy to understand tutorial/explanation regarding the use of navigational coordinates.
I have tried using the coord's from Seejay's site to locate the hidden planet in the Pearl system, and failed miserably....
I understand that space navigation via coordinates would be different than the way we navigate on earth (on earth we use longitude and latitude - which are arbitrary fixed coordinates... whereas I assume in space, the coordinates are all relative to your current position? (eg: there is no "equator" or Prime Meridian at which coordinates start)....
Anyways, any insights into this would be appreciated!

Be aware that you have Sector coordinates (Big Boxes) SX, SY, SZ.
Then you have Positions inside the Sector. PX, PY, SY.
To find Pearl you only need to enter the SX, SY and SZ coordinates. Don't forget to hit "Enter" to set the value in the box.
Good luck;)

This tutorial video has a section on navigation. The instructions included with the game also offer details on managing coordinate values.

All sector coordinates are relative to sector 0, 0, 0 ... which is where you start, in Sapphire. When looking down on the Evochron galaxy (Top View), you view the X, Z grid. If you want a corresponding analogy, Z would be latitude and X would be longitude ... positive coodinates would correspond to degrees of north latitude and east longitude. South and west would be negative.
When looking along the galactic equator (Rear View), you view the X, Y grid. Again, X is the same as longitude ... Y replaces Z (since you're using a 3-D map) as latitude.
Within a sector, you have a similar coordinate system ... and it works in much the same way as minutes on a map of earth. Meaning, every sector has the same number of "sub-sectors" ... just as every degree has the same number of minutes. Except, in Evochron space, the center of each sector is 0, 0, 0 ... in other words, the coordinate system within a sector is sort of a mini version of the sector coordinate system.
