Just started playing today. 90 minutes ah geez not enough. But anyway.
If anyone played frontier when you docked at a space station you would get docked inside. And no one could touch you until you left.
Now on a planet it was different. You where out on the open so you where fair game.
I did notice that you cant be destroyed if you hop into the station via the menu.
How about adding police in civilized zones or turrets on stations so they can defend themselves?
Oh and I been reading this board forever. and that elusive IMG quest was nagging me to death. Because when I would start the game, when you appear for the first time you already have a way point so I assumed that that was where hope was.
Very sneaky guys very sneaky. Love the game btw its a def on my list of things to buy.
Oh one question.
I read that you could uninstall the game after your 90 and reinstall to get 90 more. Will this work if you port your saved games over from the first 90 minutes?
If not I will just have to try different things till I can afford to pick up a key.

Buy a station licence and you're protected - mind, you'll have to buy the game first. Look around the forum; everyone who has bought the game, and played it, has had nothing but praise for it, the best space sim ever. It costs less than a decent bottle of wine - what are you waiting for?

I heard something about "social life" in a completely different forum. They also mentioned that people "work"??

You guys are funny. Also I read somewhere that the dev was not planning on changing the cargo box limit. I can see why. But how about a device that at lvl 1 gives you a compression of say %15 which would increase your capacity so when you hit lvl 5 device you have say %85 more. It be easier to program in and you could make the lvl 5 device a real pain in the arse to get.
Also I love the game. But since I am on a fixed income I have to wait to get the darn key. And I also have nothing but praise for this gem. Been bragging to all my friends about it. And I never had a social life to begin with so this game will fit right in.
So what does buying a license at a station do again exactly?

It gives you a discount when you buy stuff and also they protect you while docked.

An argument could always be given. But since this is a mining , mercenary, trade etc game I just think its odd that you only have the option of taking on 5 items max. That in my opinion was a very poor thought out idea.Originally posted by Marvin

Also it could be done in such a way that only one item would work. Not multiples. Now lets not nitpick. I am sure the programmer of this game has already gone through countless simulations in his mind on things he/she has done in the game. Plus we are talking about an item that does not exist or may never exist.
I just thought it was odd that the mining aspect of this game received the short end of the stick.

Eclipse I can see that. But then again that is the mining aspect. Just like being a mercenary and doing nothing but killing is also one aspect.
As long as people buy the game, who gives a hoot if they want to sit next to an asteroid and mine?
Look at frontier. If you had 200 cargo slots you could have 200 different items. It went by the #'s Not by the bays.
And I simply thought for the sake of making it easy perhaps programming wise that the dev could devise a part that could give us say %10, 15, 20, 25 more maybe 30 max. And if you want to make it difficult to obtain make it part of a quest. Or have the top item someplace random in game. There are tons of ways to make it interesting.
Yes I like mining. And as of now since my time limit expired I have to sit and wait till I can grab the game. This sux (having to wait). But it will be oh so sweet.
Seriously I hope that the dev revamps the cargo bay thing. Maybe not even more bays. But little more control on the 5 item limit. That in itself might give the game a tad more boost. Even when I buy the game I probably won't be playing multilayer. I like single mode play.
And while I am here could someone clarify something for me.
From what I read your single player toon can go into multiplayer mode with the equipment he earns in single player mode? That's what I gather from what I have read.
If that is true then your earlier statement about sitting at a mining asteroid would be mute. I have also read about players going in game and some high level people giving them 50 mil. So that in itself would simply defeat your argument. Since then all they would have to do is return to single player mode and buy what wver they can get their hands on.
I seriously hope this is not true. And that Multilayer chars are separate from single player.
Either way. This game graphically is a Huge step up from frontier and I applaud the author for creating this great game. I just hope that some of the things for single player mode do get addressed.
Mind you these are simply my opinions.

Hi all, totally new to the game, playing single player atm, trying to learn before i get my @ss handed to me in MP
But it seems to me, the easiest way to add cargo expansion to the game, is to code in, that you can only do so whilst in a fleet, and you cannot fire any weapon while using the configuration,
This would mean you rely on wingmen for protection, i think you'd need to keep counter measures, but not anti missile,
It would open up a new element of clan play in MP, The defence of your mining fleets, or tansports, and also being attacked by larger numbers in trade routes.
The ability to target cargo bay as a subsystem, would open this up even more and give it a more risky move for players to use, losing high cost merchandise without being destroyed.
Even better would be if a cargo bay could be targetted to once destoyed, release its cargo, for enemies to grab.

Back to things i'd like to see in this game,
I'd like to see at least a 5% chance of subsystems, or weapons, surviving the destruction of an enemy, so that you can tractor into cargo bay, and bring back to station for repair/install, or just to trade,
It would also be cool if you could tractor a stranded ship, but not allow jumping with a tractored ship,
Be also good if stealth mines where available, as well as fake distress calls - with a % risk of it being detected as fake, so your intended trap could alert enemy to your location.
These are just ideas to be discussed, some may need tweaking, and the developer is just one person, coding is time consuming, and server load/cpu usage is always a factor as well.
I suupose a pretty simple addition to the trade console would be a chack box above your subsystem list, check to lock all systems in place, preventing acciedently selling, as you can't immediatly buy back, gotta do a mission, then buy back.
one above cargo be good as well, so you don't accidently jettison cargo or sell the wrong cargo.

I'd like the ability to set custom waypoints, so an explore flight plan can be set, not just a single straight line auto pilot that may lead to no discoveries.

How would you want the waypoints calculated? How about a square search pattern which expands outwards on the XZ plane around your current position?

Not saying mods/admin arent doing their jobs, they have a board code/framework to work within, some board adjustments can be a little tricky.

Its just odd that in a combat sim, with trade, piracy doesnt take place, trade routes are attacked by npc's but using lots of expensive missiles for the chance to grab a few k at best worth of resource. Seems crazy to me.
I'll be installing photoshop again soon, gotta download some of my resources, brushes, textures etc after a 1.5 TB hard drive crash locking all data on the drive. faulty firmware.
